I've only been watching F1 for about 3 years, but that was the best race I have ever seen. I am a huge Kimi fan, but it was still good, even though I was sure he would win. Oh well, it will happen eventually.

F1

I've been watching it since 1972 when I was a kid, but with more attention since Gilles Villeneuve began driving for Ferrari. Believe me, it was a far better sport back then, more competitive. Practically anyone could win in the 1970s and up to the late 1980s. Since then the big money has spoiled it, as with most sports. I still watch though, can't say why, maybe force of habit

So the Red Baron had his wings clipped and Coulthard won, that was nice to see. He was being advised by his pit to take it easy on the Mercedes-Ilmor engine - maybe it was getting near the blowing point near the end. Too bad Montoya looped it; he should have won.

Last season was the most boring one in decades. So far this one is looking better, but it probably was a fluke. Schumi will have it sewn up by August. Too bad the Hondas suck so badly, I am still a Villeneuve fan, 25 years on.

I liked Gilles too. His F1 debut was in a McLaren.

Honda and Renault engines won every Constructor's World Championship from 1986 to 1997. When they get their crap togeter they should provide better competition for the current big three. I think they'll get there sooner rather than later - both were surprisingly quick in the practice sessions the past couple of days.

Way to go DC!

I think BAR will do better this yr, Villeneuve was out of the pts cause he made 3 stops. Villeneuve is my fav driver, hope he gets his career back on track.

My 3 fav drivers:
1. Villeneuve
2. Schumacher (Ralf, I currently own a BMW :p )
3. Coulthard

If the race was any indication, this yr may be a lot more competitive. This race was exciting, because anything & everything happened.

Mikey Schumey had aero problems, Kimi had a speeding penalty, & JPM spun out but recovered. Kimi could've made it a 1-2 finish if it wasn't for that damn penalty.

In 1992, Mansell led the first 70 laps of the race, then had to pit late due to a flat tire. He came out behind Senna - then was all over him as you described for the last 8 laps. But Senna made the car so wide Mansell was unable to overtake.

Excellent race.
