W211 Brake Pad Replacement Instructions

I will soon need to replace the rear brake pads on my '03 E320 and am understandably cautious about the SBC. Can anyone refer me to a good step-by-step procedure for this service (preferably with photos) on the web? I've done numerous pad and rotor replacements, including on my old '96 W210, but SBC was not a factor then. I've read some posts that say unplugging the SBC unit under the hood renders the system harmless. Any help would really be appreciated!

On another topics, what do you think of the missing dipstick on these cars? Hate it!

I'd reccomend letting the dealer do it, but yes unplugging the pump shuts the system down.

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks, Tech. I'd be interested in knowing why you'd recommend having the dealer do it if the SBC can be ruled out as a factor. My understanding is that once the SBC is off, it's just a normal pad replacement. Am I wrong about that? Again, thanks for the input.

On a related note, how do you SBC owners go about changing brake fluid?

Beats me!

Marcus, so far the car is covered under the MBZ maintenance that they included with the car, so they did the only brake flush that's been done so far. I have a pump-up DIY pressure bleeder that I used for the old Benz and my BMWs, but I don't think it will work on this thing. They're really making us dependent on those dealers. It's a feeling I don't especially like.
