Any idea what the item circled in blue does?
The lines from it lead to the intake area.

That appears to be your auxiliary air pump. On non-supercharged V6's and V8's, they are mounted right where the supercharger on your car is. They had to relocate it for room for the blower.
Wooo Hooo that MBtech is fast !

I have another question...
I assume this is an emissions control device. What ia an air pump doing on the intake side of the engine. I though (possibly mistakenly) that the air pump pumps air on the exhaust side.
Any comments?

You're absolutely right. The point of an air pump is to promote burning of hydrocarbons after the combustion gas leaves the cylinder, which would be on the exhaust side. That having been said, I'm afraid I don't know what that part is. It appears to be attached to your fuel pressure regulators? Since the fuel pressure regulators work from engine vacuum, and a supercharger pressurizes the intake manifold, that part could be some kind of auxiliary vacuum pump? I really don't know, it doesn't look familiar. I haven't seen that part on any other motor, so it could be an AMG V6 part only, and I haven't had to fix any problems on those cars yet. I'll have to take a closer look at the next SLK32 we get in.
Now I really have no idea

That is the exhaust side, the SLK is a V6 meaning that there are 2 headers. right?
in the inside of the vee. This is the intake side of the engine.
The exhaust sides are on the outside of the vee.
This device is pumping or sucking air to what appears to be fuel regulators.
