AMG engine timing

I recently replaced a head gasket on a 104 engine, I have done many of these jobs without a problem however this engine was an AMG 104. The only difference I could see was the displacement but when the customer drove the car he said he noticed a lack of power compared to before I replaced the gasket. Can anyone tell me if the timing is set up differently for the 3.6 litre 104 as opposed to the 2.8 litre.

Sounds like you have one cam off a tooth, but that should set a check engine light (car will run fine), but if all marks are lined up- is it an AMG gasket (too thick would lower compression).

head gasket

I had thought of this, however, when I compared the old gasket to the new one I made sure the cutouts that represent the sizes on the side of the gasket were the same.
