'02 CLK55

Which brand filter for oil change

Ok so I got the 0w40 Mobil 1 ready to go, need to get the filter. What I have found is 000 180 2609 for a part number. I found two MFG Mahle and Hengst, any preference?

Also I like to make sure I get all the oil out, so I always use the drain plug. I have read where some have two. Does the 02 CLK55 have one or two drains?

If you want to make sure you get all the oil out, vacuum it out the dipstick tube like dealer does.

The MB dealerships do this to save on labor time only not because it is the best way to do an oil change. You cannot suck all the dirt and metal filings out with a tube.

Any examples of a vehicle FIRST being sucked dry, THEN the drain plug pulled AND the volume expelled measured? The reverse order is also required to document which works better.

So, a pump guy should run the two tests to settle the debate. 1) Pump it, then drain and measure. 2) Refill w/ drained oil. 3) Drain it, then pump and measure. Report on which LEAVES more oil.

I would venture to guess by logic that a hole in the bottom of your pan will get all the oil out vs. suction. You cannot see if your hose is at the bottom and if there is any residue left. I am sure the amount left is tiny but still left and the heaviest (sludge and or metal frag) is left on the bottom. I have not looked but every car and bike I have drained used a magnetic plug that I cleaned too. (does the MB have a magnetic plug?)

I used the drain plug and when it's completely drained with the drain plug off I pour about 1/3 of a quart down just to kinda get all the old oil out. I have used the Hengst filter it works fine for me.

i heard they do it to prevent corrosion on some bushings or hoses due to the oil dripping onto them

well I went with Mahle (made in Austria) but I may have gotten the wrong ones as they did not fit? I have an AMG and it would not slide over the fat part of the filter stick.
