This has been discussed many times.

Some guys in the USA suggested using the LSD parts of the W126 560SEC Rear End . and install them in an R129 500SL hausing. It also has a 2.24 ratio, so even better news for you autobahn drivers.

I would suggest just using the 2.65 ratio Diff from the R129 500SL

You can find the Detail in the 500E forum : www.500ecstasy.com/forums

Regards

Ok. Then the best thing to do (and cheapest) is build an LSD from W126 parts and a R129 housing.
Because their is no kits available for this car.
You can you a DTM diff on your car which is LSD , that is if you can find one.

But it all depends on Engine tempreture , have you upgraded that ?

Another note.

Diff's of newer cars may not fit because the housing is different and they have ESP / ASR /ABS sockets were the 500E has only ASR/ABS sockets.

The wiring and control is also not the same.

there are or was a kit for this car available.i know this sure.on the 126 asd lsd is the locking moment to low just 25%.i also know that a another diff will not fit.but there was some cars from renntech with a 6speed manual and also a lsd.and yes my engine is a little bit upgrated and some further things are also changed.clk63 (030) brakes,no speedlimiter, amg rollbars, brabus suspension, exhaust system with 2x200cpi metallcat.lightened valvetrain, modified heads, cams, weightened rods and new pistons.................
i want to increase the street and track performance more and for this i need a lsd later on maybe a 6speed manual if it is possible to find one.....

Then the project i am working on will be of benefit to you.

As you know. the 500E has a slight cooling problem in higher ambient tempretures and some racing conditions.
higher engine tempreture will cause loss and decrease in HP (PS) , thus an upgraded cooling system will prevent loss of power due to higher engine tempreture. It also prevents engine/seals/gaskets damage due to high heat.

I have alot, alot of info about the 500E and other MB cooling systems

You might have been here in july and august , and saw the +50c tempretures.
A 500E with a perfect running cooling system (on my car) will climb to 105c and even 110c. cars with some cooling problems (ineffecient radiator.etc..) causing it to reach 120c.

Comparing it to newer MB's with the M113 , M273 block. they run a constant 95c all the time (from -4c to +50c).

Good luck
