2005 E320 AMG Sport Package
Windshield distortion?

On Friday, 09-21-07, I bought a 2005 E320 Sport. Great car but looking through the widshield is like looking through a pair of glasses that are not my prescription. There is the very slightest distortion that is enough to give me quite a lot of eye strain while I drive. Anyone ever heard of this?

A few years ago my wife and I test drove a 2000 E320 and she noticed the same thing low on the windshield.

The car has a two year warranty and I wonder if MB will replace it.

I had an '04 E55 with no windshield issues. Recently I've test drove (with my wofe - for her) multiple '08 E350s with no problem. Is it ossible the windshield is a replacement (a lower cost knockoff) ?

Nope, it has the MB info on the drivers side. One of my neighbors had an '06 BMW 745 and he had the same problem. He figured it was an optical illusion from the silver extior, black interior coupled with the rake of the windshield. He said when he wore his sunglasses on a sunny day it solved the problem.

I'll dive it with my prescription glasses on and see what happens.

03 E500 and Corvette
Our E500 has distortion also on the pass side,, and our Lincoln we traded on the MB also had distortion.

When I tried to have a rear glass replaced they were going to bill me for it and not cover it under warranty. So you might want to check with the dealer if you feel it is unsafe. If they won't change it you might file a complaint with NTSB for the glass distorting your vision. This might help further. Best of luck.

BMW E30. I've turned to the dark side.
I've seen one windshield distorted and it bothered my eyes looking through it. i would describe it as "bad optical quality". the first time in to our dealer it was dismissed but the owner was adimate and pointed out the major flaws. his car was still under warranty and it covered it no prob. show the foreman not just the service advisor.
