Hi guys My friends E class has a lifter tick & he doesn't know what to do with the car. I told him to change his oil and try a flush kit...no luck any suggestions.

what year/model? what kind of oil is he using? is he sure it's the oil lifters ticking? tell him to add a can of bg44k to a half full gas tank, it will clean the fuel lines really good. i think advance auto parts sells bg44k for like $15-20. it;s a little expensive but works better than techron or the gas treatment that mb sells.
if that doesn't help than suck 1L oil out and add 1L of non-synthetic atf, i was suggested this procedure in order to quite lifters.

Lifter tick is common, I can hear some in our E500 from the day we drove it out of the show room. But I agree, you must use MB spec oils in the engine to prevent issues. If it is running MB approved lubes I would just drive it out unless it is really hammering then back to the dealer to check for defective lifter/camshaft issues.
