hi guys.
i dont know whether this is the best place to discuss this, but i was wanting some guidance as to which MB engine would be the best option for building as a race-tuned engine for a track car.
i'm thinking of building a w202 and want to know which would be the best option in terms of power, price, availability of parts, reliability, etc.....

i have not decided on whether the car should be NA or forced induction.

any help would be appreciated...and if someone could steer me in the right direction to obtain the stuff required, i'd really appreciate it.

im sure you can get input here,but you have got to give them a little more intent on what type or racing and what your budget is.

Buy a 98-99' C43 - figure 10-11k , buy a W210 - 5.5 motor - figure 2,500 for the motor & maybe 1k for install , kleeman headers - 2,200 , speedybenz racing suspension 4-k w/installation....there you go a $21k track car(estimate).

Add 15k to the above estimate.

as i said, i want a track car.
if the car fairs well on the 1/4 mile strip, thats a bonus.
the car will be totally stripped out like a full race car, so weight saving is quite important.
pricing is relative...i have limitations on how much i would spend, but if i dont know what the stuff is gonna cost me, then i cant say whether i can afford it or not.

i would luv to be in the position that you just outlined above, but unfortunately, the c43 and c36 engines were never offered to the south african market. neither was the w210 e55.

in terms of NA, i was thinking of building a high revving powerhouse.
in terms of forced induction, maybe turbo a c230k motor.

i've built a toyota NA 1587cc, 20v blacktop, aka ae111 with big duration cams and a high rev kit with a TRD gearbox. heres a couple of vids before the remap and smaller wheels......

Isn't it obvious that the latest 6.3 AMG engine is the best?

Of course, if you want one with a pedigree of having won LeMans 24-hr, use M119.
