screeching/highpitch Siren/alarm problem

Ok guys I need help.

I have a W209, and I started to notice the chirping noise when you arm/unarm the car doesn't sound anymore. Didn't think anything of it. It's been like that for the past few weeks.

Anyways, the past few days if I get out of the car, get stuff out of the trunk etc.. there's this really high pitched screeching/irritating noise that sounds like its coming from the front left area. I'm assuming its the siren for the alarm that may be starting to die. The only way to stop it is to start the car, let it run for a bit, and pray that it doesn't happen again.

The best similar noise comparing I can say it sounds like is a fax machine. The part it sounds like is the 'beeeeeep <________>". Basically that garbled noise after the beep. The screeching noise is not constant, and sometimes the screeching sound flutters of that makes any sense. BUT, when it is constant, it does sound like the alarm going off.

Before I bring it to the stealership I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to see if its possibly a loose wire, or something easy I can do myself. This problem is very random so I know when I bring it into the stealership it won't happen. Would this be also be related to why the chirping noise doesn't work when arming/unarming the car anymore?

You had chriping noises when you arm/disarm the car? Is it a stock alarm? I thought the only way to get it to chirp was to have it under the Netherlands setting...

The netherland settings was already programmed into the car when I imported it from the states.

It's using the stock alarm, but the beeping noise from the netherland settings disappeared and the random fax machine noise coming from the siren I believe is the siren for the alarm.

I've heard from someone on benzworld.org that the siren in my car is probably dying, I was just wondering if the netherland beep and alarm noise comes from the same siren or not...

From what I've read on this board the netherland setting has to be programmed by the dealer

My car did the same thing. The alarm system module was messed up. It didn't cost too much - I think $70 for the parts + labor. It was corroded or something from road salt.

It sounded like the alarm system suddenly became retarded or something. It was irregular and messed up.

But it was on the front right, not left, under the car.

YES on top of the RIGHT wheel well.

Exactly... but here in California the dlr charged me over 100 for it... that was a little over a year ago.

NOW! just this week, it's BACK!!! so my alarm chirps / goes off at random again!!! so

SO => there might be a possible cause from Netherland mode. and maybe not ALL cars with netherland mode, but some; yours and mine!!!

I'm so frustrated with it.... I almost want to rip out the siren horn... but knowing Benz, there WILL be error codes that's going to annoy me some more.

Sounds like the internal battery for the alarm siren might be on its way out. When the siren sees the voltage getting low it sounds off, thinking that someone is disconnecting the battery in an attempt to steal the car.
Replacing the siren itself might remedie the issue. Usually there would be a
dtc set for a faulty alarm siren.

But would the battery cause the netherlands beep not to sound anymore?

I haven't had a faulty alarm siren warning or anything yet..

No, no display warnings, but a dtc set in the rear SAM I believe.

And, I'm not positive, but it's possible that a low internal battery could cause the "netherlands beep" not to sound.

Did the panic alarm work? What was not working correctly?

hello. sorry for the late reply. I haven't been on this message board too much in the past couple of weeks.

I had my mechanic replace the siren. Everything is back to normal now and the netherlands beep is back. So if it's the same situation as mine... just replace the siren

thanks for the update.

Was the panic alarm working before you had the siren replaced?

It wasn't working before but I haven't really tried it after the siren got replaced either... But... I read somewhere on here or it could have been benzworld that if you have your car in netherlands mode, your panic button is disabled..

I can't remember exactly where I read that but since then I never really looked into it.
