help with fuel filter

Hello I installed a new fuel filter on 2003 e320 but a few days later i filled up my tank full but the level on the dashboard showed only 3/4 what did i do wrong i apprciate your help.

You might have binding on the float assemply. Did you confirm it was free to move prior to installation.

In addition to what vettdrv mentioned, did you make sure that the pointer on the fuel filter assembly aligned up with the pointer on the tank body? Also, the fuel pump assembly also has a level float -- the two rods on the cover need to be perpendicular to a front to back axis.

When I changed my fuel filter a couple of years ago, the filter arrows were off only by a 1/4 inch of circumference, and the guage was going crazy.
