I have a 2007 ml 350 as well, and its been about 2 months and I get the service D message.
This is a pre-certified vehicle and I wouldn't expect any maintenance this early.
Can you please help me understand what this means?
Thanks

It doesn't mean anything.
These cars come with a maintenance manual that lists the intervals between required services. These manuals do NOT refer to letter. The car is keeping track of both mileage and time, so typically it's every 10K miles or one year.
You can get one for your car by calling 800.for.merc or ...

Thanks for the response.
So from what I understand is - although its been only 2 months I purchased this pre-certified car, I still have to call and get the service D taken care of ?
(Why would they not perform this for a pre-certified car before selling it!)

Could be they just failed to reset the counter.
If it's been less than a year since the oil was changed or less than 10K since that, no. Both seem pretty likely--just go have them reset the computer.
If you've just hit 40K miles, it's time for auto trans fluid change--don't think the computer monitors that.
Again, there is NO SUCH THING as Service D.

Thanks. The mileage is defi over 43K, but then I purchased it at 40K so I am hoping they would have taken care of transmission.
Anyways - thanks for the help, I'll go to them and see what the service D really means for my situation.

When buying parts(mercedes ml accessories/parts) you should know how long it has been used. Service D actually means change oil and inspect motor. Others may recommend to get an auto transmission service or a rip off as well as brake fluid change. MB recommends it every year or two, to keep water from corroding your brake system.
