please help!!

Hi i have a problem with my mercedes benz vito van 113 petrol 4 cyl engine,2000 model,5sp manual,180,000 miles, with the engine cold or hot, at no particular part of the road it has an intermittent problem missfiring and vibrating with no warning lights illuminated. it starts fine every time and at normal cranking speed, the problem happens in all gears and weather conditions. no modifications have been done to the van and the symtoms are gradually getting worse and feeling like its running on 2 cyls and only getting up to about 40 ks speed and no faster. the funny thing is i can turn the engine off and restart it it runs fine for a short time and then does it again. while missfiring it has a white hase out of the exhaust smelling like hot raw fuel. does anyone have any suggestions??

Sounds to me like you need a full tune up and a complete diagnosis.

Quite frankly I would ignore the CD player suggestion and possibly all others from that poster and no, I would not trust him

03 E500 and Corvette
Complete check should find the problem.

Plugs? Wires? valve sticking? do a diagnostic.

Get an OBD II reader and check codes. Sounds like MAF Sensor to me (or its equivalent in your car) . Fuel pump/ filter? Whats your fuel pressure? Possible clogged CAT's. I would replace/ clean MAF first. Definitely check the codes. It might have stored 'soft' faults.
