I was wondering if i could get help on how to reset the service lights on a 98' clk and 98' ml. I saw mbtech208 talk about it in some post but i cant seem to find it anywhere (used search)! on the ML it says -1500 and a wrench symbol next to it!? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you referring to the annoying message that says something like "Service A exceeded by 4500 Miles"?

Or are you referring to the trip reset of the milege?

Thanks.

What do you mean in #3? Isn't the ignition in position 1 already? That was done in your instruction #1???

I guess it should state in #1 ,turn ignition to the 2 position.

Doing it from memory. There is a link you can go to that gives the instructions that I used. worked for me.

fss light

Depending on the model, the drivers door might have to be in the close position.

Hi there,

Thanks for the info, but the link does not work. I also tried the instructions a few times and also with #1 with the ignition in position two.

Please provide the link and if anyone else can help as well.

Thanks.

This is what I tried also,:

turn ignition key to position 2

press reset button twice within 4 seconds

turn ignition back to pos 1

press and hold the reset button

turn ignition to pos 2

keep pressing the reset button until buzzer sounds and new miles display appears

Completed - Thanks!!!

I found this on the net and it worked.

Turn the electronic key in steering lock to position 2. To call up the trip odometer and main odometer, press button 3 or 4 on the multifunction steering wheel until the display appears.

Press button 5 or 6 until the FSS indicator appears.

Press button 'R' on the instrument cluster for approximately 2 seconds.

The multifunction display will show the question:

'DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL? - CONFIRM BY PRESSING R'

Press button 'R' on the instrument cluster again, and hold until a signal sounds. The message 'SERVICE INTERVAL HAS BEEN RESET' appears in the multifunction display.

The new service indicator is displayed with the reset distance of 10,000 miles (Canada 15,000 km).

Thanks.

I can't express how glad I am that the annoying message is "gone". All I have to do now is find a way to get the oil filter cover off so that I can do an oil change myself. I like doing my own oil changes because wherever I go, the technicians always put the drain plug back in when there is still a small flow of oill dripping. I like to pour another litre or 2 to flush the dirty oil out even further. I may be ****.

Anyone know where I can get that tool or what to use to get it off?-clk430

I tried that and it didnt reset my FSS light for my 1998 C230.

heres exactly what I did.

put key in and turn to 2.

press 0 button twice. fss comes on displaying -800.

move key to 0.

move key back to 2 while press and hold 0 again.

hold for 10 secs and wait for beep. (no beep)

I let go of 0 and its suppose to reset fss. (no reset)

:/

fss light

Don`t let go the 0 button until you hear the bip, & you might need to have the drivers door closed.
