The seatbelts are automatically tensioned in an accident using electronics if not pyrotechnics.

New parts are required--be sure insurance adjuster is aware.

Guessing you're going to need to clear an SRS code too.

Dealer uses their SDS equipped laptop. A few other high end scanners can view those codes too. OBDII can't.

They do. Typcially after its been diagnosed and/or repaired. Some repairs (SRS, Trans, etc, etc.) won't "take" until such time as the repair is affected and the clodes cleared.

There is one and only one way to clear a code: fix the problem that created it.

Just get realistic and deal with your insurance company to have accident damage fixed.

emergency tensioning of the seat belt is a normal operation of the vehicle, there are two different steps when it happens. one is just pulling the seatbelt tight, the other is a ignition squib fires off causing the seat belt to lock tightly. the only way to fix this is to replace the seatbelt, atleast if the ignition squib went off. take it to a local dealer and ask for a quick test, and or diagnosis. they will recommend replacment of the ingition squibs
