You need to remove the door panel, "un-bunch" the lock knob boot and lubricate.

Or just cut the lock rod boot a little, so it wont do it again.

If you lubricate it won't do it again. It is an approved MB repair.

Replace the lock and save some effort.

yeah, you can try to just cut or remove the boot around that lock rod, but the best fix is just replacement of the lock assembly. I have seen plenty where just cutting and lubricating did nothing and it still bounced..

I've been doing the lube since the bulletin came out, and have not had one come back. Those who are unsuccessful, are you using the correct lube???
part#A000 989 36 60...replace the lock if you like, it will fix it, but I can think of better ways to waste my money!

Hi Guys,

I've simply disconnected the boot from the mechanism casing and even with it disconnected it still does the same jumping action.

There seems to be plenty of lube inside the mechanism too.

See pictures attached.

Is it worth trying to pull the mechanism apart or just replace it?

If so any ideas on cost of replacement?

BTW,

Not sure if this is of any help but the button only jumps up & down when trying to LOCK the vehicle. Unlock works fine.

Also if I push the button down before locking it doesn't jump but I have also noticed that the button does not go down as far as all the other doors.

Hmmmm.....

Since you seem to be familiar with the correct lube, maybe you can tell me what the container looks like.

I had the same problem with my door lock on my 02 C240. I tried a few things to fix the problem but in the end I replaced the door lock actuator. You can purchase them online for around $110-$115.
You will need to drill out 3 or 4 pop rivets and move the window mechanism out of the way to get the door lock actuator out. You can DIY but I didn't really enjoy this job that much.
I found it was very difficult to remove the old part (very tight fit). Took me about 2½-3 hours to finish the job. If you decide to DIY you can find some threads on this site. Don't forget to replace the pop rivets with the steel ones and not the aluminum. Good luck.

99% chance you will have to replace the door lock mechanism which has the actuator enclosed. This happened to my passenger front and passenger rear. Had to replace both. The rear is a bit trickier but you don't have to drill out the airbag rivets. There are good instructions on this forum of "how-to". Good luck!!
