Question Default programming of options

Is there a list or form that contains the programming options that can be done for a customer prior to delivery, such as default settings for when you start the car??? Specific to the W203 would be great.

For example, prior to delivery of a BMW, the dealer has a list of values to be programmed like: DRL On or Off, A/C last setting memory On/Off, etc.

Thanks,

The salesperson goes over that stuff with you at delivery and shows you how to set that stuff. why do you ask?

There are MANY usability options on my BMW that are only selectable with the dealer service computer. These are often related to what modes for various systems you want the car to remember (A/C-heater-fan settings, etc), those associated to your car key, and certain features you want active/inactive (DRLs, Auto-locking, alarm LED blink, etc). There's a whole list so that the dealer can ensure that they are programmed properly when your car is shown to you at delivery.

I would think that anyone would want these programmed prior to the delivery of the car and then shown that they are indeed set. The delivery should be spent on the introduction to the feature of the car and basic instructions of use.

This has got to exist somewhere. Is there a MB technician in the house who knows?

I don't think that exist for the MB E series. What I mean is, you don't need any special "dealer" device to access the program codes/opitons. It's all through the Multifunction system that anyone can do. Again, the salesperson should have went through this with you.

Whoops. I should have been more clear. The C320 4Matic Sedan is on order and expected shortly. As such, I wanted to know if there were some options for default settings that I should review and ensure are preprogrammed by delivery. If everything can be user set through the computer, than great.

But let's say that I want my car to remember (or not remember) the last setting for my automatic climate control (ie: vent position, fan speed, whether the A/C switch was on, and whether recirc was selected) each time I start it. How do I program something specific like that?

On the BMW, you can have the dealer program whether the car will or will not remember certain things. Heck, it can even remember if you wanted your traction control off, or a specific default for your radio volume. It's not published in the manual, but settable to your preferences by BMW Service. Does the MB not have that level of programmability?

The only options I would have wanted pre-programmed (and that I had to bring back to accomplish) were the removal of the speed-dependant volume control and the appearance of "No Phone" on the menu. Other than that, almost all user options are, in fact, user settable. My salesman went through all of these with me at time of delivery, setting them as I thought I wanted them. Later, I have modified several as the spirit moved me.

Well, it's good to know that here is a great deal that can be done yourself.

Would you happen to know whether the user programmable settings would address the climate control example I cited or if this is possible on an MB?

How do I program something specific like that?" The temperature setting is remembered. If you take it out of automatic mode it stays where you set it last. You can't choose vent position etc. in automatic mode...only temperature, EC (economy, no AC), and recirculation. No dealer only changes to HAC that I am aware of. Make sure they delete the "NO PHONE" message from your display if you do not have a phone.
