Transmission leaking

OK - I've had this Tranny leak for a while. Its getting worse though. I power washed the under carrage and drove a bout a week. I went under and looked around. No fluid around read seal area or up by the bell housing. But there was around the pan. I needed a fluid change anyway so did new filter and casket, I thought that was it but now I still have a leak. It must be coming from up higher where I can't see well. Any ideas were else it could be coming from? It drives as well as ever but just leaks. Is there a hose or somehing up higher that it may be coming from.

It could be leaking from the wire seal which is higher up -- that's what happened to me.

Regards,
paul...

I wish I had a lift too, then I could have changed my own ATF instead of paying an indy.

Regards,
paul..

Still trying to find the leak, it's getting worse. Pressure washed the bottom & sides as best I could. Thhere are 2 round "plug" type things on the passanger side of the tranny that seem to be seeping. I'll check again tonight since it just was cleaned yesterday and no noticable leak since but I stopped for the day. It looks like the round things are held in with C rings. The only electrical plugs I see are down low and lookes oily but not fresh red like whats dripping on the floor. Any Ideas?

I agree with Paul the connector typically leaks. Mine was replaced under warranty at dealer with new part # seals. You might check the for the dealer replacement part.

I agree. The part is called the transmission data plug and has two o-rings on it that are a common leak area. the part is cheap, and not to bad to change out. the tab on the outside of the connection unlocks upwards then the black part of the connector comes out. then the plug is held in by a 7mm bolt.

When you change the 2 o-rings - do you have to drop the pan on the auto tranny and do the fluid change after?

The reason I am asking is because I am taking my 03 c320 for auto tranny service tomorrow (fluid change, filter change) and if you need to drop the pan to replace the 2 o-rings i might ask the dealer to do it tomorrow at the same time. It is NOT leaking now but might as well do it at the same time - but only if dropping the pan is required to change the o-rings. If not, then i can replace them myself when and if they start leaking.

I was reading this DIY and it makes it sound like dropping the pan is required so that's why I am asking the question. http://www.installuniversity.com/mb/...ans_oring.html

No. Buy the whole 'plug' with the o rings attached. It's cheap and the o rings are of the correct material so they won't melt (known problem with original o rings).

Awesome, so I dont have to worry about it till it leaks since I can do it without dropping the pan... That's what I wanted to confirm... Thanks!
