Clock runs slow, approx. 1.5 min per week.

My two weeks old C230 sport sedan's clock is running slow. It lose about 1.5 minutes per week. Can it be fixed and how? Should I bring it back to dealership?

TIA

Clock in my 01 E320 4Matic also runs slow as does my 02 ML500. But, not as bad as yours. The E320 loses a half a minute a month and the ML about a minute a month. Both have been changed out several times but they still lose time. Every time one is changed, the time loss differs which leads me to believe that the quality and accuracy of the clocks is not great.

Have a COMAND installed, the dash display will be synched to time provided by the GPS constellation. Your clocks will always be accurate.

Exclamation

The problem is known to MBZ and they may have a CD computer update to fix this(as I was told on Fri)...my car a 2003 clk 500 is in the shop for this and some other items right now. I'll know more about the new fix this week. Command does synch the clock to the satillite but surely you don't need that expense if you don't need the nav.

ML (163): trip computer production has been changed a few times, but still is not 100%. MB is still working on it.
211 with navi Audio 50 APS (I do not know if this is used in USA): should have CD 1.2 to work correctly (time issue).
Any 211: when clock differs exactly 84 minutes: can be fixed by changing a setting with the Star Diagnosis laptop.
Some models (especially 215/220, but also some 209 and 211) just have bad instrument clusters. MB knows the VIN-numbers (or at least in Europe they do).
209, 211 and so on are all under warranty, go see your dealer(s), they should be informed.

I've synchronized my quartz wrist watch and the clock in C230 with precision time (a window utility to syn the PC clock to US atomic clock). The wrist watch agrees with PC and Atomi clock, only the clock in C230 is slow.

I will contact the dealer's service department on Monday to find out about the CD patch.

or maybe it's the difference between 50 hertz in Europe and 60 hertz in the USA ;-))

@RJC,

209 with VIN number between 040340 and 045255 may have bad instrument clusters.
