Cl500 w215 tandem pump (power steering/hydraulic pump rattle) issue

Ive been having a hydraulic pump issue in my cl500 (w215).
vehicle is a 2002 cl500 with 80k miles. abc and steering are working completely fine, other then the rattle noise itself.
Ive replaced the pump with a new tandem pump, along with a full hydraulic fluid change (done correctly by draining the system) and then followed by rodeo. Immediately after starting the car the noise still persists. Im not sure if i just got unlucky with a defective pump, or if it is something else thats causing the tandem to make noise.

any info is greatly appreciated.
thanks

are you sure it's the pump? check around with a stethiscope to pinpoint the noise.

to me it sounds like a bad/broken bearing inside the pump.
also the noise was exactly the same on the previous pump that was making noise

It looks and sounds like a bad P/S pump.

FYI another possible cause:
The serpentine belt tensioner has been superseded five times, at least once due to failure issues.

when you replaced the pump and filled the system did you pressurize the bottle to force the fluid into the pump?? I know if you don't do that the pump can create and airpocket and not push any fluid. It will cause the pump to be noisy but I have never heard one sound like that before.

The rodeo ensures that the system is bled of all air. Air will kill a tandom pump as it will trap a pocket in the pump and starve it of fluid.
