Weird smart key start-up problem

Hi All,

My car developed this weird phenomenon the other day - smart key stopped working. Put key in ignition and would not turn. Left it there for about 5 minutes, then car recognized the key and started. Problem happens everyday first thing in the morning... Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the car to recognize the key, other times it can take a couple of hours. I've replaced the battery in the key and the car, problem still persists. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Car is a 2004 S55 AMG.

thanks...

I strongly urge you to take it to the Mercedes Dealer soonest.

Possible issues:
* Key failing.
* Security module failing.
* One or more of the SAM modules failing.
* One or more of the K40 modules failing.

I have hair similar issue as mine has Key-less Go with remote start.
For a few days I could not figure it out.
Then I did a remote lock.. Arm the vehicle.
Upon return, unlocked via remote and all was well.
Have not seen any hiccups lately.
