Adding Slick 50 to a CLK 430 Engine- Do or Don't?.
Can someone share their comment on using Slick 50 or any other Engine oil additive in a MB engine? I have a 2003 CLK 430 Cab with 15,000 Miles.
I have read that it can be harmful in some engines versus the benefits.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Most all of that stuff is garbage. Give your money to charity rather than wasting it on that stuff. Could be harmful I guess. MB says no additives.

Not a good idea
Any snake-oil that contains PTFE does not belong in your engine. DuPont, the inventor and a manufacturer of teflon, strongly advises against it for engine use...it has a nasty habit of winding up in the ring lands, and then sticking the piston rings so they can no longer move. The dealer won't honor your warranty when they find this gunky mess after tearing down your engine.
Teflon is great stuff when used properly...but not IN an engine.

In the late 80's, the general manager of W.I. Sominson in Santa Monica highly recommend using Techron in the older Mercedes Benz to clean the fuel injection system. I use that every now and then when I fill up. And when I bought my 95 coupe, during the explanation of the GE Capital extend warrantee program, the lady told me no additive except techron is allowed for the warrantee to pay for whatever damage there might be.

That's what I thought. No additives. Just regular oil changes every 5,000 miles with name brand oil or 100% Synthetic (ideally SuperSyn by Mobile 1) every 12,000-15,000K miles.

No one reccomends stretching out your oil change intervals to 15K like Mobil 1 advertised when they first released their synthetic oil about 20 years ago. Some people advocate changing your oil every 3,500 miles, even if you are using synthetic. Others say that if you use dino oil, you should change every 3,500.
I follow MB's reccomendations & change every 7,500 with synthetic. If you have an older car that has not been run with synthetic, changing to synthetic with its superior detergents and lower viscosity can cause "false oil plugs" to desolve and cause new onset of oil leaks. I had this happen to me twice w/ older MB's so I don't not switch from dino oils to sythetics.

I don't think I run a synthetic in mine and my oil changes on my 95 C 280 are every 7500 miles. I'm also curious if you've been using a non-synthetic oil, if it's possible and/or ok to switch to Mobil 1?

i use amsoil 0-30 and change my oil once a year, and the filter every 6 months. i have never had any problems. when i sold my integra it had over 300000 miles on the original engine and ran awesome using this product

Back to the topic The only additive that works is Zmax, period. Slick50 is a waste of money and can clog your filter as it has SOLIDS in it! Use the synthetic oil MB recommends only to start with then after 10k or so you can add the Zmax.

do not use zmax, it is junk. if you use a quality oil you will not need any additives.
here read this.

i think you will find this interesting.

I use Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas, nothing added to the oil. Been doing this for 30 years to all my cars, never had an engine problem in all those years. Don't know if it really helps but it has not hurt. My dad told me about it years ago. From what I read about it supposedly it really does work.

Our team used Oil Extreme in our Superbike motors and I now use it in my C43 and before that I used it in my C280, V6.
I ran my C280 on the dyno with Mobil 1, 5-30wt and after some baseline runs added the Oil Extreme and picked up 8Hp.
We found that on our Superbike motors the stuff helped the motor stay fresher a little longer with better ring seal over time. Cam lobes and buckets also looked very good.
I learned about the Oil Extreme from David Vizards website which I don't think still exists. It was called Motortec.

Re: Adding Slick 50 to a CLK 430 Engine- Do or Don't?.
All of those additive oils are only good for cars with couple hundreds thousand miles, pistons are completely loose off, smoke come out like chimy, and owners don't want to spend more than $50 to fix them.
If you put any type of these oils into your car, you risk destroying the engine.
