Intermittent Starting Problem - MBtech208, anyone else??
Okay so every once in a while, especially when the car is warm, it hesitates before starting. Meaning after I click the key to the right, the car will just sit there and try to start, but will take a good 4-5 seconds to 'catch'.
So today I started the car after it sitting for a week and it fired up like a champ. Went to the video store (4 mile drive) and when I came back out, the car was doing it again, except this time it didn't catch, tried again, nothing, and 3x more times, nada! Gave it time to contemplate starting, and on the 6th try it started. Any idea is going on??
This only happens when the car is hot, I'm confused and the dealer doesn't have a clue. I only have 250 miles left on the warranty...any ideas??
TIA!!

What engine, does it make any noise?
If you have a 112 or 113 engine, it may be the starter motor.
They have to apply lubricant to starter motor & fly wheel teeth.

Hot start problems may have several causes, but if your shop does not have a clue get another one. For a qualified shop hot starting problems are just one of the simplest things to get rectified.
Just from remote a few causes:
+Cold start valve gets (wrongly) a signal to enrich the mixture
+Cold start valve is leaking fuel
+temperatur switches activating the starting controls submit false values
+air mass measurement wrong
+leaking injection valves
+CO value wrong (O2 sensor??)
and a few more

And...where is that cold start valve located?
