Does this look like 30k worth of damage?
My insurance first valued the damage at 3k, then I took it to a certified Mercedes repair shop and they added an additional 16k, and now they're telling me they need an additional 10k.
This would make my car a total loss. There is no frame damage or damage to the engine. I had a buddy of mine who is a mechanic take a look at the 19k repair bill, and he said they're replacing everything they can to make money, pretty much the whole front end of the car. They're even charging for nuts and bolts.
Is there anything I can do to still keep the car and not have it be a total loss?

Go through the list, figure out what it will really cost to fix.
Get the amount the insurance will pay you and see where you end up fixing it or replacing it.
I would bet they will give you a very different price if you tell them you are fixing it out of your pocket,

the problem is that the insurance has the car at a total loss based on that damage.
If I choose to keep the car and repair it, it would need to have a salvage title since it was claimed a total loss.
The salvage title would also void my warranty, which would make it pretty risky to keep an S-class with no warranty.

What year is it?
Is the insurance good enough to just get another?
Is there anything special that makes you want to keep it?

Most people fight with their Ins company to get more covered with all new and perfect parts to make a near perfect repair.
Sounds like you want to ask your insurance Co, if they will accept repairing it to your satisfaction with used parts to lower overall cost.
My guess is they will want assurance that they will not be responsible for any diminished value, and you agree to used parts such as wheels and such that could lower the overall cost.
Seems you need to sit down with a GOOD and experienced MB repair tech and the estimate and see if it is even possible to reduce the cost, then take it all to your Insurance company and see what they say.

Insurance companies will try to total a vehicle if they think they can get more money out of it than what they pay out when the vehicle goes to auction. If you think they are overinflating the repair costs, they probably are.
