Windshield Fluid

I have heard that there were some "specific" brand of windshield fluids that may damage the windshield fluid pump, anyone know which brands were they?

All my cars are using the windshield fluid from Costco. The brand is called Laurentide -45°C Windshield Washer Fluid, it contained IPA, isopyopyl alcohol.

Are they safe to use?

Please advise, thanks.

I use RainX from Costco. I'm also interested in any info about this.

I read somewhere from other MB forums (cannot remember which one), someone put the orange RainX and clogged up the washer pump and had to replace it from own wallet even still with MB factory warranty. The dealership denied warranty claim if you put in non-approved windshield fluid.

Uh oh, I just bought 2 gallons of that stuff. I haven't opened the box yet so I guess I'll be returning it to Costco.
I found this regarding RainX: http://vancouverisland.mbca.org/tips...-washer-fluids

Then again most on this thread love RainX

I used to have the rain-x -40 degree (yellow colour) for all my vehicles and had no problem. But after reading the horror stories regarding some Mercedes dealerships denied the warranty claims for using the wrong windshield fluids, I will stop buying the rain-x. Now, I am still using the BMW windshield fluid on my 2014 Mercedes without any problems . However, I am running out of the BMW windshield fluid very soon, I will switch to buy the Laurentide -45°C Windshield Washer Fluid from Costco.
