60 mile test drive?

Hey folks,
Just wondering, just had my car in (for 3 weeks )for warranty work. While I understand that they did have to test out for the problems I had, do you think that 60 miles is excessive for them to test out the car? Seems like it to me...
Thanks.

Yup, seems excessive to me as well. I can't think of anything that would need 60 miles of driving to test. Maybe they took the car someplace else to have some of the work done? Three weeks seems excessive time as well.

seems very extensive. ask your service man where they test drove it. i know whenever i get my car back fom service, the bass and treble on my sound system has been changed. Its not a big deal at all, but when they are changing my brake pads, it is not necessary to adjust my damn bass and sound system. Its just like take the car out for joyrides. i know that i saw some lady driving a new clk500 convertible like she stole it.(in between two dealerships) so i figured she owned. WRONG, when i asked her she said she just sold it to someone. i know damn well that when i buy my next car, it wont be from her.

Sometimes its necessary to drive the vehicle for a while to confirm a complaint or to confirm the repair was OK. 60 miles is NOT excessive and I would be thankful that they took the time to do it. I, for one with either of my MB's ask the SA or forman to drive it home to confirm everything

It would be nice if they wanted to make sure that nothing is worng after the repair but 60 miles is like an hour of steady higway driving, twice that in the city. Did they add another labor hour to the repair bill? I would ask them why.

I had a whole page full of problems... when I got the car back Friday night, they didn't have the paperwork ready, so I can't tell you all 14 things that they worked on. I was going to start a new thread when I got the paperwork, but noticed the mileage 1st and wanted to know what you guys thought before I went back in.
I do know they replaced the freewheel in the trans, put in new cams, and a few minor things. I do believe that they were very thorough and he checked out a lot of things. I'm all for being through, that it why I didn't say anything when they had it 3 weeks, but still 60 mi seems like a lot.
Thanks for everyone's input, I will probably go down there Monday afternoon, so keep 'em coming
Thanks, Greg.

Sounds like somebody needed to pick up lunch a few times while they had your wheels.

I just had a bit of work done yesterday. I had to re-adjust the seat and mirrors when I went to leave. Not that it's a big deal, but why does the lot boy need to adjust all the seat angles to drive the car 20 yards over to the shop bay?

I went down and talked to the folks at Park today when I picked up my paperwork. Man he did a lot of stuff! I'll start a new thread with all that stuff when I have more time, but suffice to say that I am OK now with all miles, seeing all the work that they did.
Thanks for everyone's input

Yeah, that always annoys me, seeing as I spend the whole next week adjusting them to get them back right. I have thought about trying to retrofit a memory seat in, but I think that would probably be a LOT of work...
Anybody done this?

60 miles isn't excessive, depending on what the problem is and how often it happens. I once put almost 500 miles on an E320 cabriolet before the car stalled, which was what the owner was complaining about. An SLK230 took 350 miles worth of driving before the check engine light came back on, turned out to be an intermittent open circuit in the fuel injection wiring harness.
