adblue pump replacement?

Hi,

I have a fault code showing low reductant pressure for my exhaust fluid so I want to replace the pump.

firstly, once replaced does the new one have to be coded to the car, or is it a straight foreward swap?

many thanks

thanks, only star can code new part? Could I get round this by having my original pump repaired, no coding required?

thanks

That's a good question that I do not have an answer for. However who on this planet repairs stuff like that with the cost of labor what it is. In any event once you disconnect the connector you have created a fault and that can't be cleared with a BS OBD pocket scanner.

Thanks, this is where I am at;
new pump supplied and fitted by mercedes will cost £900.

a new pump from my local car parts shop will cost £300.

to have my unit repaired will cost £250.

i have a code reader that will clear faults..

You are talking about a remanufactured pump, big difference from what you originally stated. Yes your last post is a no brainer---go for the 250 !

Ok, thanks, a remanufactured one wouldn't need coding then? I was tempted to pay an extra £50 for a new one, but if I am going to have to pay extra for coding then probably stick to getting mine rebuilt.

thanks

right, the company that rebuilds adblue pumps isn't interested in doing mine, tthey only do lorries and coaches.. I have rang around other places and can't seem to get anyone interested in the job.

so it looks like it's going have to be a new one. I have spoken with my local mb specialist and they say normally if a part needs coding to car it shows up on their parts program/software..?? But for this job it dosnt, but they can't say for sure.

if I did go ahead and fit a new pump and cleared fault codes with my reader what does coding it to the car entail? Is this on live on star?

many thanks

OK, so tonight I removed my pump assembly from my car and sealed all open tubes. I have since cleared my low pressure code and am currently pricing new/used pumps.

When I install the pump will I need star software to install it?

thanks

Hi, can I ask if you got this sorted please? I have ordered a salvage pump for my w213 and wonder if it needs to be coded. Thanks.
