722.9 P2767 limp mode after fix

722.9 P2767 limp mode after fix

I had intermittent limp mode and after doing research narrowed it down to conductor plate sensors. It never threw a code until 2 weeks ago which it was permanently on limp mode with code p2767. Further researched pointed to Y3/8N2 sensor which I did a DIY on. After I put everything back on, car is still on limp mode and P2767 still shows even after clearing with my universal code reader. Was it a failed attempt or do I need to clear the code with STAR / Icarsoft mbII scanner?

Hi iwannac230!II have almost exact same situation as yours. So, I am curious on how yours has turned out - working now? did you get a more sophisticated scanner to clear the code? I know it's been a couple of years since your posting, but i would really appreciate your comment as mine, 2007 ML350, is stuck in limp mode. thanks in advance! Harry

By any chance, are you also getting codes in the ESP?? What code do you have in the TCU?

I got P2768 - input/turbine speed sensor 'B' circuit intermittent. Now my 2007 ML350 is permanently stuck in limp mode, can switch (very harshly) only to R and D (1st or 2nd?) and can drive only up to about 20 mph @ 3000-4000 rpm. this happened recently after a long time of experiencing stuck in low or high gear after a stop, the early occurrences even began under warranty but could not duplicate and get more and more often still it's completely stuck not long ago. Before it was like restarting engine would cure that. I’m not sure a bad battery and many jump starts recently could be the cause of that, how ever, this permanent stuck happened after I've replaced with a new battery. The car has an auxiliary battery supposedly keeping the computers powered up?

I DIY replaced the 2 middle speed sensors (from Amazon) in conductor plate - I am vary handy and professionally trained in electrical/electronics. After putting the plate and valvebody back before re-install ATF pan, I tested, with key in 2nd position w/o starting engine and foot on brake, and observed shifting P-R-D many times very smoothly, without harsh-shifting or almost crashing into gear. Now with everything re-installed, engine-started, it's still stuck with harsh/crashing shifting, only to R or D.

I cleared P2768 code with a Veepeak wifi OBD2 adapter and Fourstroke app, but it comes back soon after. is it because, some say, the generic OBD2 scanner is not good enough? has to be a higher-end scanner to completely clear the code?

any comments or inputs would be greatly appreciated. and Hope that what's happened to me and whats been done could be of referance to others as well.

Hi! Just a follow up on my previous post – solved! I bought a BlueDriver scanner on Amazon ($100) and cleared the transmission code P2678. Now the SUV drives very well with 150k mi!



Hope this msg helpful to someone tackling the same issue.



I need to tackle SRS next ……never ending.
