Eng 276/GLE 450/spark plugs
The dealer says MB says my 2016 GLE 450 should have new plugs and air filter at 4 years....(now). But my maintenance manual says 5 years. In addition, I am told that the 2017 GLE Coupe has same engine as me and its service booklet says 5 years. Any thoughts would be appreciated..... Car has 22000 miles...... I bought an extended warranty and don't want to void it out but also don't want to spend $700 now if I don't have to...... Thanks

Suprise, the dealer says work is needed before Mercedes says it is needed.
Read the fine print in your extended warranty. If it says anything related to maintenance, follow it.
As a general rule, ignore the dealer.

Thanks----but when I called MB Customer Service they said the same-----4 years on a 2016 GLE 450 ......I asked for an explanation---why 4 years on a 2016 and 5 years on a 2017 with same engine and was told to go to the dealer..... So I thought i would try the forum

The plug replacement and air filter replacement in my Maintenaace booklet say every 50K or five years but MB says that my 2016 GLE 450 should say every 40K or four years.....MB says That the 50k/5 years applies to 2017 GLE Coupes...... BUT they both have the SAME engine ----or that's what I was told........So my question.......WHY 4???

One more thing, unless you are under warranty and by contract "must do the maintenance", never trust what a MB Dealer tells you

Thanks I understand----2 things--- I bought an extended MB warranty that requires I keep up with MB maint and second ......MB Customer Service confirmed what the dealer told me....when I asked CS why the engine in my 2016 is 4 years and the same engine in a 2017 is 5 years ,,,they referred me back to the dealer.

Now MB Customer Service says that its Maintenance Manuals have a typo re the 2016 GLE 450 Couple......that the books should say 4 years for plugs------that the books are incorrect as distributed to me and I assume all other MB customers....
MB Customer Service claims that the 2016 Service Sheet which MB gives to the dealers is correct!!
Of course ....how do I know this to be true?? And why would it be true when the 2017 Service Sheet says 5 years for plugs.

Prepare a document before signing fo that replacement with that argument
"I, MB Dealer ........., sign with this document that there has been a error in the ........ blabla"
let him sign it
If he doesn't, he is a liar, if he does, you can always try to find out officially
if it's a lie
sue him for 1 million
tip: get a hidden camera, that way you can sue him anyway
