Coming from BMW world - where are sites like newtis.info and realm.com for Mercedes?

I am coming from the BMW world - I've done tons of coding and am experienced with ISTA-D, and really found sites like newtis.info and realoem.com to be great DIY resources. I'm getting more into Mercedes-Benz and am looking for something like these resources. I don't honestly know where to start. I have read a bit on coding MB and it seems pretty much a non-starter for USDM vehicles - ok, I can live with that. But I'm trying to cross-reference parts that are shared across MB models and also looking for takeapart/repair instructions. I apologize if this has been asked before - I did a quick search of the forums and couldn't find anything like these sites, and honestly I am feeling a bit lazy today.

because there are no sites like that.

You need the MB service computer system... which is well pricey or a fake from China.

@icce I own recent models of both BMW and M-B and participate in both of the main discussion boards.

realoem.com = EPC, also some functionality at parts sellers like mercedesbenzstarparts and fcpeuro
newtis = WIS

No free options for EPC and WIS, look at ebay and you will find options.

If you want a dealer-level diagnostic tool, you are looking for DAS/Xentry and you should contact user pmercury on this site.

Coding is rare to non-existent for M-Bs judging from reading this site. You will also find a noticeable demographic difference between bimmerpost and mbworld, age and prevalence of DIY being two of the more pronounced differences.

For $135 a Foxwell NT510 Elite is a tremendous value in diagnostic tools for M-B and considerably better than the comparably-priced iCarsoft products. The Foxwell is reviewed here. The Holy Grail of diagnostics for M-B is their proprietary Star Diagnosis System which is used by their dealers. An SDS with hardware cloned from China can be had for c. $250.

Definitely - I noticed this shortly after moving from BMW to MB. The BMW forums are full of technical know-how and DIY instructions; there's relatively little of that here, by comparison.

@Mr. Toad Agree. The BMW site seems boy-racerish. The MB site is the opposite.

Have anyone here looked at *******? All programmers and hackers are hanging there. You do have to pay $25 one time membership fee to join.

I wouldn't necessarily use the term "boy-racerish", but I did find that BMW owners were generally more interested in performing their own maintenance, doing their own troubleshooting when issues arise, and making modifications to their cars (that part can be boy-racerish, and it didn't appeal to me much). I do wish the MB forums were as well-stocked with technical info and how-to content as the BMW sites.

@Mr. Toad Yes, again we agree. I'm trying to do my part to add to the pool of DIY information! I do believe demographics plays into the difference in DIY prevalence between the two sites.

OP: If you find some good sources of tech/repair/DIY info on MB/GLC please post what you find. I'm starting to look around and have run into the same problem. Even simple things like toque values for basic maintenance procedures are not to be found...yet? No repair manuals, no nothing, rather discouraging.

@Packin4 Search this site for WIS/EPC. It will lead you to the documentation available on a third party site.
