2021 GLE 350 No Oil Extractor?

Hello,

I've done some research and couldn't get a clear answer.
Since this car has no dipstick, it's absolutely impossible to do any oil extraction from the top side correct?

So even when we take it into the dealership for an oil change, they will also just drain from the drain plug underneath?

I'm not sure why they would make it harder for themselves like that as well.

Unless there's another tubing on top side that you can use to extract the oil...

Thank you!

Correct. It's bottom drain. There is a single use plastic "screw" drain plug with o-ring that needs to be replaced with each oil change.

I've read many complaints about oil extraction not being possible on vehicles lacking a dipstick. Don't you still need to roll underneath to change the oil filter?

The oil filter is on the top actually you only need to drain the oil from the bottom but can change the filter from the top.

My Rubicon has a top mounted filter that I like for its minimal mess, but I still use the sump's drain plug. Driving the front end up onto ramps makes it a 20 minute job. My G's filter is bottom mounted, and even though its canister cap has a drain plug, there's always spill when the filter cap comes off. Mostly I dislike the G's no dipstick feature.

If this makes you feel better, the G-wagen is a special vehicle so I guess it deserves a different treatment? Otherwise most MB has the filter on top nowadays

My G (2019) has the m176 4.0L V8 twin turbo that's used in at least 8 MB models, all of which are on production hold in 2022, presumably for EPA issues. Rumors abound about what its replacement will be and when it will happen.

G-wagen prices are going up crazy and for good reason, enjoy yours
