Need help on getting a Scan / Diagnostic tool
Hello,
Need help on getting a Scan / Diagnostic tool
I have a few mercedes MY 2003,2004,2006,2007 & 2010
I need to reset a few things that the cheap bluetooth scan tool cannot reset
Need to reset/ diagnose the following to better understand the issues.
1. SRS light came on after battery change. 2003 E500 & 2006 CLS55
2. Battery visit workshop. 2004 SL55 (already changed battery)
3. Check engine on 2007 GL450 CEL came on after driving in rain/ Wet Weather.
Im hoping not to cost more than 400 or so.

scanner : cheap vs. good.....
Your limited budget may not meet all your scanner needs. Good scanners deliver compatibility and coverage. The hard part is to figure out where the exact limits are using marketing brochures.
Look at iCarsoft or Autel scanners around your price point.
Think about how much you could save with a Xentry system...

I couldnt find much info on these tools so I ended up buying an Autel MaxiAP AP200. It's as powerful as an Autel costing 10x as much, but its cheaper because you use your phone or tablet as the processor/screen etc. So you're just paying for the dongle. I think I paid $70 on Amazon.
Its not as easy to use, but cheap and can see a ton of stuff in your car.
I have Xentry now but as far as finding and/or erasing codes I think Autel is as good. Its also a pita to setup, and slow, but the price is right.
So it may take 10 min to find and erase codes, but cheaper dongles can't see a lot of the codes, and from experiance, can't delete many of those they can see.
