Hello friends,
Need some help to identify a good tool but not crazy expensive as OEM Starz
Planning to use:
Scan codes
Register new battery
Read Transmission oil temp for oil changes

Please let me know what will the best for my needs.

Thank you all in advance.

Message user @BenzNinja or buy an icarsoft unit. Search feature will bring up the specific icarsoft device.

Thank you chassis,
icarsoft some models shows it as an option, but they don't guarantee it.

If that's all you need it for, then you can use Xentry passthru with Tactrix Openport. Simple enough.

This is not a recommendation!!!

Is there anyone in the forum familiar with this? Do these work reliably?

This appears to be one of the Chinese knock-offs that get mixed reviews. If you really need to tear into your system beyond what a OBD scanner costing less than $300 will provide, go with Benz-Ninja who receives nothing but praise for his product and support.

I contacted him and got info. Personally, I like his sales model which he acts also as an "advisor" which is invaluable. It would cost more for me to go to dealer for the issue or spend hours online for a solution. For the record, both the equipment he recommends and his advisory cost (which is mandatory) is way more than $300. It is definitely a fair amount in my opinion but I won't be typing it here out of respect. Only reason I have not gone with Ninja is I was able to solve my simple coding and tech-in of new equipment issue with 120$ device that @DavidPetrisor linked. I would probably go with Ninja in the future if I have an issue that is more complex.

Looks like a nice, very capable device. I'm a bit confused about its configuration though. Does the base price include all the listed functions, or does each additional feature (such as battery registration) need to be purchased separately? The description also implies that the additional functions need to be purchased every year (e.g., subscription based). Have you added any second vehicle brands to it? If yes, does a particular function such as battery registration need to be purchased twice, once for each brand?

I bought this tool, and send it back, read reviews, a lot of it per subscription. Testing now this one

@streborx
I was able to complete the tasks I mentioned without spending additional dollars. I did see that additional brands are $40 to $60 per year. My intention was to purchase and return if it turns out to be subscription trap (that was my expectation but I gave it a shot). I got what I expected out of it so I am keeping it.

It is not clear if it is holding back any features available for my car from me but I have not seen any message prompting me to make a purchase while browsing through the 50 modules that it scanned for my car. I have spent 1 hour with the device and it did not ask me to make any purchase while doing coding, variant changes, teach in, scanning and resetting.

Can you do screenshoot of battery coding screen? Maybe I got wrong model, as I couldn't find it. For our 2018 GLC

Where is it supposed to be at? If it is under diagnosis, which system you want me to check?

There is a Battery Matching module in the app store but it is not for Mercedes.

I don't have EV too, what will happen when you click BMS - Battery Management System menu on the second screen?

Good point, i missed that part (
Looks like replacing the main battery very easy task, it sits under the hood, not under the passenger's seat in our ML.
