2007 c230. My vin is WDBRF52H87F927808. 96,000 MI I've had some small conversations about some conductor plate related to the speed sensor that is often a problem in the transmission that can easily be dealt with during a transmission fluid service. Does anyone know what this is all about? I'm wondering if it is definitely something that is always a problem or if it turns up by some set of symptoms that are catastrophic or not catastrophic and how easy it is to change it or whatever. I've also heard that if you change it you have to do some crazy reprogramming or whatever. Does anybody know anything about this and how much I should have to worry about it

Bert, these are all genuine concerns.

Right now the best thing you can do is simply service ATF normally to dump sludge particles sludge out of tranny.

If you are really loosing sleep over it, replace conductor preventively to prevent limp-mode on the road later.

First, scan for error codes. The early 7G trannies did have problems with the speed sensor. Symptoms are loss of throttle control which is restored by turning the engine off and back on. Check this out.
