M113 oil pan discussion
My question is, what do i need to change apart from the upper and lower oil pan? im guessing oil pick up tube? maybe the entire oil pump?
I havent seen any information regarding the oil pan types so we could gather information for peoplr looking for a cheap reliable swap.
Thaks in advance!
I assume you considered the options of moving the eng fwd and/or up. Or moving the offending parts on the car, which I'm guessing is the steering but there's likely room to move it a little.
I'd lower the eng in there and see what I have to work with. If the rear sump version looks like it'll work then I suppose I'd look at used pans and engines on junkyard websites because, thankfully, they take a lot of pix from different angles. Maybe from those pix you can see if a rear sump is a simple bolt on or not. I would think yes, but MB likes to complicate things so who knows. If no, you could mod your existing pan.
Should I assume you're not in the US? Because here the default eng swap for just about everything is a small block Chevy, which is likely smaller and the sump/pump is in back.
Yes I do live in europe, there is not much options for a cheap durable v8s, bmw's v8's are at best questionable and manual gearboxes are super expensive, toyotas UZ are through the roof becouse its japanese and there is no direct fit manual tranny, and american v8 are super rare heare an ls is easyly 4k and modular v8 from ford at least 2k and finding spares is dificult, so for a v8 is the smartest decision the m113, cheap and robust 6 speed bcs nsg510 are common in europe and tuning potential with amg parts plus it should be bulletproof and is a unique swap, only some guys in sweeden swaped a 4.3.
