W213: adaptations
I replaced my review mirror with one from a 23 e63s that had 5k miles. The issue i am running into is that the garage door opener does not save its code after the car powers off. I compared the wiring and it is 3 wires, identical to the 18. It is acting like it needs to be adapted to the overhead module.
reason for replacement, Mine was loose (after 150k miles). The original one worked fine and stored garage door codes. "New" one does not.

You've just found out the new '23 mirror is not compatible with your '18 chassis.

Try this steps,
- Re-syncing the garage opener (sometimes it just needs a reset).
- Coding with Xentry/DAS or a good aftermarket tool to match the mirror to your car's system.
If that doesn’t work, the mirror itself might be faulty or incompatible. Swap back to the original to confirm.
If that was true... the darkening of the outside rear view mirrors would not work yet it does so LINBus is operational. The only "issue" is the saving of the garage door codes. After turning off the car, the mirror wipes the "codes" and returns to a clean slate state.
I'll dig further and post accordingly.

Just for clarification,
My car is an 18 E63s (Edition 1). The mirror is from a 23 E63s. Same model car.
