2010 ML350 Air Intake issues

Hi all,

Trying to keep my wife’s ML350 out of the dealer -
CEL on -
Codes - 0745,0749 - Bank 1 and 2 too lean
0521 - Charge flap movement malfunction
2091 - bank 1 to lean at idle
2095 - bank 2 to lean at idle
0620 - leak detected in intake system

I checked 02 sensors and both are operating normally.

Vehicle runs mostly fine. Idle RPMs bounce a bit -

We did have two occasions this past weekend where the car wouldn’t start after it was just shut off - it wouldn’t fire up. I had to attempt multiple starts and give more gas to start.

I performed a smoke test (to the best of my ability) and couldn’t identify and major leaks. There was some coming out of the back where the MAS is.

Any recommendations on next steps?

Thanks all -

Based on your preliminary testing report
I believe you may have a combination of issues.

-1- Smoke test escaping from near the MAF need to be inspected & fixed. Like camshafts rear plug caps.

-2- The intake plenum charge flap is having issue. Inspect for broken linkages. sort of famous to fall apart

-3- Feel free to check your fuel rail pressure is stable.

On my M272 engine the metal wire clamp on the maf was loose and sloppy when clipped over the air box. I wasnt having any codes or issues but it just didnt seem right. I installed a new sealing ring on the air box and it made a big difference, the clamp fit much tighter.

this is an excellent tip that should never be overlooked on the Mercedes MAF setup.

There are dozens of these significant gotchas.
