Recently I was advocating doing sparkplug QA inspection before installing. Sparkplugs are one of the MOST ESSENTIAL part of AF combustion - Results must be all equal to help keep engine balanced.
The part about counterfeit is a no brainer: only buy genuine autoparts from reputable sources... clearly not eB nor Amz.
Obviously consider :
Only genuine brand parts
proper (under?) gapping
strict plug surfaces qualities
The interesting part is about the spark test tool to compare individual live strikes. Thus allow to review true results before installation.
All sparks must be identical and are easily affected by misc factors. Even genuine Mercedes and Bosch parts are found NIB with flaws... QA !! #### INCENTIVES...
-- To have the stock ECU firmware to grant us responsive fuel trims, we need predictable ignition timings from reliable sparks.
Then GDI throttle throws all the gas you ask for with "pressure sensitive" pedal.
vs. "Heavy car" spongy pedal response are from lean trim maps.
-- Precise combustion timings start with mixture + sparks + seal.
-- Precise throttle gets matched tranny shifts. Conversely goofy tranny hint at throttle....
#### MISFIRES...
Marginal ignitions are from a combination of factors including unpredictable spark, lean A/F mixtures, drafty piston rings.
These lean misfires are without any CEL.
