Good looking car, but you may need to take the top, and the price, down to sell it in this market.

Some close ups of the wood trim for those asking, sorry for the dirty interior. A complete detail inside/out will be done to any prospective buyers beforehand.

i am a wholesaler (among other things)

the manheim auction numbers range from $41.5k for average with 43k miles to $48.5k for pristine with 13.6 miles. the numbers for the north-east auctions (adesa) are lower.

your car is 44k to me as you are relatively high-mileage and you are in average condition (i see curbed wheels and i am sure there are other nicks here and there).

45-47k right now is a fair retail for somebody that needs to move a car in average condition. my number factors the oncoming seasonal steep decline in pricing in jan and feb for sports cars.

c2 turbo - regarding my dreams- you have no idea...

alx,

I've seen you post in a couple other for sale threads. It seems like you only like to post auction prices and push people to sell close to that.

I don't think you should be doing that, not only do you ruin people's for sale thread but you make potential buyers think they can actually buy cars at close to auction prices.

my numbers are just a data point. i am sure people have the resources to make their own decisions when they buy or sell cars (or anything in that mater). if you go by what a guy on the internet is telling you...

regarding retail and wholesale, i think i have made myself clear in each case which price i am mentioning.

to be fair- i think anybody would do good if they can sell their car privately even close to wholesale - i know this sounds wrong, but such are the times. a dealer will buy your car for far less than wholesale. gone are the times when if you car can bring 20000 at the auction the dealer will buy it off you for 19500. now-a-days you will be lucky if the dealer offers you 15k.

also buyers can do really well in this market by buying their desired cars close to auction prices... because the wholesale prices and retail prices are as close as never before... again- such are the times.

i am sorry if you cant sell your car for what you think you can sell it, but at least i provide you with a reason why not. you can heed my advice or not.

good luck

Do you even own your own car? No body asked you for wholsale numbers here. The guy is trying to sell a car. Why don't you quit posting wholsale numbers everywhere. I can't imagine any dealer willing to sell a car and make no money so stop giving people here false hope.

what i own is irrelevant (and i dont think the answer would be what you were hoping for).

i dont post wholesale numbers just for kicks. the only reason i would post one is when i say what in my mind the retail number is and mention the wholesale as a starting point.

i dont expect non-pro to buy a car at wholesale. although as mentioned before the wholesale and retail are currently very close so this has started to happen more and more often. however, what i do expect is when somebody tries to sell their car to get wholesale from private buyer and far less from a dealer. cash is tight for everybody.

i can guarantee you that for every one like you (that is horrified to realize how much their car is worth) there are 10 people that appreciate that kind of info- and they are not only buyers. the more info you have - the better decision you can make.

I think its fair to post a wholesale price point, or any price point. Everyone has their own opinion. Just because says someone says the price is too high or low does not necessarily mean I agree. For example. I just paid 38k for a car Mannheim had for 33k as average, but it was in immaculate condition, had the options I wanted, and I knew the service history was good. If not I probably would have pushed the guy on price. In my opinion it was a fair price -- great? no, but it was my call.

That being said -- I think your price is fair. My dealer has one for the same price with 8k less and it is a CPO vehicle. Time are tough -- I hope you can get what you are asking. It looks like a great car -- a lot of people dropping because they are desperate. Why not keep it? It doesn't seem like a bad option if people are low balling you.

On the other end I got a great deal on a new S550 -- to be blunt unbelievable, and I did beat the dealer up. That being said -- I suspect he knows he'll get it back in service and modification work from me. So to each his own.
