FS: 2004 Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG 49K Miles

Hey Guys,

I finally made up my mind about selling my car. I tried to sell the 55 before on the forum but was not 100% ready when I recieved some interest to let her go. I'm still in school and need something to get around all year round + something that I will be able to buy for cash instead of making a payment on. The car is perfect in everyway, and still has a 2 year 3 month warranty left on it from EASY CARE that has a $200 deductable. This vehicle is equipped with every single option offered on a 04 SL55.

SILVER
Charcoal Interior
49,XXX miles
$42,000

We can arrange for someone to take over payments of $4XX.00 and give me $19,000 or simply pay $42,000 for the car.

Panoramic Roof
Distronic Cruise Control
Park Assist Sensors
Keyless Go
Pulse Seats

Additional:

2 Year 3 Month Warranty
LOJACK Vehicle Recovery
SL65 OEM Wheels
Carbon SL65 Style rear Spoiler
Carbon SL65 front Spoiler
8K HID System for front headlights and Fog Lights
Lowering Links

This Vehicle is equipped with everything plus extras. Last year I was asking 45K for the car and when I got people trying to buy it I backed out and was scared to loose her, now I am asking for $42,000 FIRM. With all the features and extras you will need to spend more this is a very clean car.

Please PM me if interested

The Sl is an amazing car. IF you get no interest at the price its probably because dealerships are asking less. Here is the MMR. Hope it helps you set a price.

I know the MMR on the car that is why I priced the car at what I did. I also went to the auction before I bought this car to buy one there. Most of the cars that went through were not fully equipped and were out of warranty and the private warranty companies wanted $4,500 for a warranty on the car.

This car has a Warranty has LoJack and is fully equipped, I'm comparing it to the cars that are on the market now. It also has SL65 wheels and a few extras as well. I think $42K is definetly fair for the car. Buying one from the auction at $35K plus auction fees and warranty will cost you the same.

Auction fees are only a couple hundred bucks, but warranty is always expensive for MBs.
ITs a fair price because not everyone can go and purchase a car from an auction.

Great, thanks. I'm lowered with SDS, I just need them so I can dump the car for a photo shoot.

Good looking car, good luck with the sale.

hope you can sell it privately.. an SL600 with 36k miles could barely break 32k in trade in... I would wager trade in on this would be between 30-31k give or take. These cars seriously suck on resell.

A dealership might give you $34,000, but the 04 SL55 AMG has to be between 10,000-20,000 miles. It has to be fully loaded, and in amazing condition. Because normally they would give you about $30,000. Its how they make the most money. Bring the trade ins to the auction and try to resell it for a quick $1000-2000 bucks. Doesnt work out always, but that is the name of the game.

Ya, 03-05 MBs have become so much more affordable this year.

they do not all go to auction

the really nice ones go to local non-mb dealers
and yes the prices on anything pre-05 are very soft and getting weaker by the day as more units come onto the market

Please let me know about the front lip and the rear spoiler...I liked that combo on your car and would be interested if you part those out, provided that I can re-install them once theyve been used already (i.e adhesive etc...we'd have to figure out how to get around that)

Probably should have sold it last year, if you could have gotten 45K. Instead of being scared!

Yea I know, I should have sold it last year, but it was hard to part with such a beautiful car.

What do you think the car is worth for a private party sale with everything I mentioned???

Part what you can, trade wheels for stock, sell links, exterior goodies.. and sell WITH warranty for $35k and take what you want from there.

I rather sell the car with everything it has for $40,000. LoJACK cost me $1000 Warranty cost me close to $3,000. Yea there is cars out there for around $37,000 but without the warranty and without the extra stuff.

NEW PRICE $40,000

LOL... dude is that all you do is go around and compare private sales with auctions making sure the seller knows auction prices.

You are very funny!

Unfortunately yes. A deal I had with him fell through because my car is "only worth $17K at auction". I was willing to take a big loss by trading my car for his Cobra, but he backed out because he wanted car + cash from ME! In the real world my car is consistently valued at $4-$7K more than his, whether it's trade-in, private-party, or retail.

I told him to go buy one at an auction, and wished him luck trying to get anything close to what he wanted for his car.

Exactly. Comparing auction prices with market prices isn't going to get you anywhere. These cars consistently SELL for $5-7k above auction prices in the private market. So, if you're shopping in the private-market, you PAY private-market prices, not AUCTION prices. Go to a freakin auction if that's the case (most of those cars need brakes, tires, and have had paintwork, so they're WORTH $5-7k LESS).

I used to work at MB and we'd have people call in, "yeah I like the car on your lot, but jim-bob dealership has the same one with less miles for $5k less!"

Know what our response is? "Awesome, go buy from him then!" - Most people that do that AREN'T interested in buying the car you have, they just want to steal it from you lol. If the grass is greener on the other side, then hell, go to the other side, sheesh!

Unfortunately there are people whose only contribution to the board is prowling the classifieds and telling every seller what their car would bring at auction.

To the OP, good luck with the sale. You have a beautiful SL.
