1998 Mercedes E300 Turbodiesel, north of Boston, MA

I am selling because my wife wants a new car.
The car is in good condition and I have been averaging ~28 mpg overall and about 600 miles per tank.
It has White exterior with blue MB-Tex interior, front power seats, power locks, windows, sunroof, automatic climate control.
Additional options on this car above standard include:
* COMAND navigation system with fiber optic cables, installed by the previous owner. (this was not available as an option on the 1998 model)
* Driver's side Orthopedic seat
* Xenon Headlights
* Bose Stereo
* Headlight washers
* RocketChip Stage 1 (should be about 200 hp and 300 lb/ft of torque)
Standard set of wheels has General UHP Summer tires with ~15,000 miles on them. A second set of wheels with Winter tires (Michelin Pilot Alpins, with 17,064 miles on them) is included
Current miles is ~217k. Have records since I bought it with 172k miles. Since taking ownership the oil has been changed every 5k miles with a synthetic. Most service has been done by European Auto Solutions in Waltham, MA. The first service was with Foreign Motors West in Natick, MA which scared me with their sky high service prices.
The following items have been serviced and/or replaced while in my care:
* Replaced fuel lines
* Replaced numerous light sockets
* Replaced Xenon bulbs
* Front wheel bearings have been repacked
* Front and rear brakes have been replaced
* Emergency brake pads have been replaced
* Replaced Transmission ETC connector
* Transmission fluid
* Front Sway bar links
* Fuel O-rings and pressure valve seals
* Glow plug Harness
* Catalytic converter
* Muffler replaced with glass pack (a little bit louder now)
* Driver and passenger side mirrors
* Battery
* Starter
* Windshield
* Cabin dust filters
* Cabin charcoal filters
* A/c condenser, receiver, dryer, pressure switches
* Auxiliary fan belt
* Under hood insulation
* Auxiliary belt tensioner shock
* All motor and transmission mounts
I can give the dates or mileage when the above items were replaced if folks are interested.
Please note in the pictures that the car has buttons for heated seats but these are non-functional! The car does NOT have heated seats. The wood surround was changed when the GPS COMAND system was installed.
The car has a wonderful drive and is extremely smooth. You can cruise all day at 80 mph and arrive relaxed at your destination. I have heard that you can get ~38 mpg if you keep your speeds low, like around 60 mph but I do not have the patience for it.
Note that the car comes equipped with a 6 cd changer in the trunk, but it keeps jamming and I have given up on trying to make it work after following 3 different threads that explain how to fix it. The COMAND system supposedly can be fitted with a 3.5 mm plug for media devices. I have bought most of the parts to fit it, but never got around to actually doing it. You may need an extra wire and male pin to get everything working.
There are some cracks in the dashboard but this is a common problem on these cars.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
Check eBay and Edmunds for a good estimate of sale price. A lot of people have listings on Autotrader at prices that will never sell (which is why they're all still there).
Your best bet is to put this on Craigslist at a reduced price. Someone will buy it there. You could also try eBay and Autotrader. Hope that helps.

If anyone is interested at all, let me know what price you were thinking would be fair.

My friend Jack has a 1998 E300 Turbodiesel as well and he never goes over 65mph. He gets 38 mpg. I have seen as high as 32 mpg. My overall average has been 28 mpg but I cruise on the highway around 80 mph so I think that's a great number.
