i have no records of any transmission service. a tranny service was next on my to-do list, but for the past 20k miles ive driven the car, the transmission has been rock solid for me. when i purchased the car, the previous owner did tell me that the tranny was flushed a year a go, so that would make it 2 years from today. whether this is true or not, or whether he was blowing smoke to sell the car, honestly i did not know and thus i chose to treat it like it wasnt serviced. therefore, a tranny filter and gasket change as well as a flush was next thing on my to do list for the car.

however, i have chosen to part with the vehicle and ill leave that decision up to the new owner. ive purchased the car with 257k and now it has near 278k, and the tranny/engine/drivetrain has yet to fail me. this may be due to the extensive work i have done to the car but also a tranny service cannot hurt and wont cost much to do.

I'd leave that tranny alone then. It made it this far.

Flush will kill it IMhO, if anything just drain and fill w/ new filter.

GLWS.

PS- Does it puff any gray smoke during cold start. I know the M119's usually have ring issues by the 220K mark.

Any front timing chain noise during idle ?

upon cold start, it doesnt blow any smoke at all. this engine starts up right away. the battery was replaced by the used car dealer that i know personally right before i purchased the car.

i also dont hear any chain noise, although im not 100% sure what the chain sounds like in the m113's... im familiar what it sounds like in a maxima and a saab 9-5 but cant tell you for sure. but the engine sounds great and it idles great. the only thing that the engine could need are engine mounts because it does vibrate when in D, but not enough to bother me.

I noticed you relisted it on eBay.

I am still somewhat interested, so if you don't mind a few more q's.

- does it still pull hard from a dead stop ? have you driven other C43's to compare it with ?

-Any warning lights like CEL or ABS or Airbag that stay on ? do all the warning lights light up when you first click over the key ? I learned the hard way once when someone took out the CEL bulb on the cluster.

That was a 800.00 repair since it needed all new 02 sensors ?

You mentioned the AC blows cold, does the Heater work well, and are there any funny odors coming thru the vents when the heater is on ? like a sweet -musty aroma.

At the mileage I'm a little concerned w/ the heater core...but I have yet to hear of one failing on a 43.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your interest AMG140.6

The car pulls very hard. I've driven a stock B5 S4 and a 2.7T A6 and they have difficult time keeping up with me. It pulls very hard from a dead stop. Just ask my friend with an S2000.

The fuse to the airbag sensor is out. When I insert it, the airbag light come on. It probably is the seat sensor in either the driver or the passenger side, but performance was the first things I kept in check so this didn't bother me.

The heater works like new. No problems at all. I did smell some chemically smell (sorry as descriptive as I can get) coming out of the vents when I turned on the AC not the heat so I changed the air filter and it smells great since.

It will have no problem pulling away from your S6 =D.

Ok, can you email me pics of the rust and steering wheel then.

Email is amg140.6@live.com

As far as it pulling away from my S6....I don't think so.

My car puts down 335 whp...thats about 425 at the crank . Maybe a stock S6, even then it would be close.

I want your car for a possible e55 kompressor swap. The stock motor is fine, but just too slow for todays standards.

My pals 99 C43 got dropped real bad by a Camry . Twas embarrassing for him, but it is what it is. Still a great platform for a hwy cruiser.

Thanks in advance for sending the pics when you get a moment.

AMG140.6, I got your voicemail just now, I'm getting the pictures ready right now for you. Hehe yea your S6 is indeed much faster than the C43, but you'll be surprised with its power.

The W210 E55 (non-compressor) motor is the direct swap on this platform.
