The R63 has been referred to as "AMG's rarest unicorn."

At that price I think it makes more sense to move to a '12 or '13 E63 wagon for about $20k more. You get a 5 or 6 year newer car, lower miles, more power and torque, and it doesn't have the m156 and its attendant risk of self-destruction.

Anyways, it'll be interesting to see how long it hangs around. Remember the BMW specialist in Cincinati that picked up two nice E55 wagons and had them listed for $39,995? I think he had them for more than six months at that price, and that was a year and a half ago.

Each to their own but the early S212 E63 Wagon is one of the least attractive cars Mercedes-Benz ever built and fortunately the styling was addressed in 2014 with the facelift-- and for most enthusiasts, the S211 E55 and E63 Wagons are far more desirable. The S211 E55 and E63 Wagon are the first AMG wagons sold in the United States and they will always have a cult following and strong resale values. Many of the buyers purchasing low mileage S211 E55 and E63 Wagons have no intention of using the cars as daily drivers and therefore the age of the car is totally irrelevant. I understand why the pre-facelift S212 E63 Wagon might appeal to some buyers as it continues to plummet in value because it would be a perfectly fine daily driver to trash or hack up with modifications. However the type of buyer that is willing to purchase a top dollar S211 E55 or E63 Wagon is not the same type of person that is interested in cheap S212 E63 Wagons. As for Enthusiast Auto your recollection is slightly off. VINs WDBUH76J35A723439 and WDBUH76J05A774753 sold in record time but it was VIN WDBUH76J05A774753 that took slightly longer to sell because it was Alabaster White with Walnut Veneer trim and it had higher mileage.

I agree the 212 is not particularly attractive, certainly the 211 is a better design effort.

Really don't agree with much else of what you've written here. But of course it is all subjective and a matter of opinion. Am curious as to why you think buyers are picking these up as other than primary transportation? Haven't seen anything that makes me think that is the case.

EAG made an offer to purchase my car, which I declined. When it hadn't moved a month later, I circled back. Eric wasn't interested at that point, as he couldn't move the wagons he had, and wasn't happy with the amount of reconditioning and repair they had required.

You're dead wrong about enthusiasts purchasing low mileage S211 E55 and E63 Wagons as other than primary transportation. There many owners who take pride in the ownership of thier S211 E55 and E63 Wagons and do not use them daily. I am a vintage European car collector who shows cars at concours and driving events in the US-- I also own an ultra low mileage E55 Wagon that sits in my storage facility and I love the car. In fact, I joined MB World to find and puchase the S211 E55 Wagon I currently own after I found myself in a bidding war for an E55 Wagon. I have since met several other owners who are S211 E55 and E63 Wagon enthusiasts and keep their cars in excellent condition and drive them sparringly and spiritedly.

I find it ironic that the W211/212 is the designation for the Sedan/saloon and S211/212 refers to the Wagon.

Most cars I've seen for sale have had plenty of miles on them. What are you going to do with a wagon - track it? It has straight line speed but other than that it's not that good. It understeers, the suspension is soft, did I mention how heavy it is? What else can you do with it, show it? It's really not THAT special.

It is a perfect daily driver and family car. That's what it's made for and that's how most people use them. It has retained value better than other cars, but it's still at 25% of its MSRP. Age is very much relevant because the newer cars have more bells and whistles that people want in a daily driver.

Even though the newer amg's have more hp and tqs, I think i still prefer the immediacy of the 55k engine. No lag! What do you guys think?

Asking $43k, but it is low mileage.

Aloha! Thanks for the heads up on this beauty. I put a deposit on this car but the dealer is not willing to accommodate me on having the PPI done at the nearest MBZ dealership.

Is it wrong for me to want to have a PPI done at a MBZ dealership rather than a local indy shop? I have paid the deposit and already scheduled the PPI at the nearest MBZ dealership, but the seller says "it's too far"... really? I understand an hours drive is a bit of a drive, but that is the closest dealership to him.

Does anyone reside in North Carolina that can recommend a indy shop that can perform the PPI as well as a compression test? Please let me know. Thanks in advance. I am currently in California and don't have the time to fly out to North Carolina to view the car and have the PPI done. Please give me your advice fellow
MBWorld wagon fans.

Tell them no dealer PPI, no deal.

Mercedes-Benz of Northlake is 35 miles away and is an AMG performance center as well. That's the only place I'd be happy with.

An hour drive is a long way out from the dealer's perspective. That said, one way to minimize risk (aside from the clear carfax) is to get VMI for this AMG wagon. If you can get your hands on that and it looks good to you, you should be fine. Any authorized MB dealership should be able to get this info for you. Good luck!

37K miles - wow - i am at 89K and use mine as a daily drive - granted my commute is only 12 miles each way and still love driving the car - car is bulletproof and absolutely love it, but am thinking of upgrading this year for sure to a 212 wagon - i just want a new car is all -

The low mileage silver '06 E55 in Autotrader for $28.9k has been listed for a long time and I tried several times to contact the seller when I was seriously in the market but have never gotten a response.

Cosmos is currently at $26,995 no maintenance records or service history that they have. New motor mounts and paint reconditioning. Price seems a little high given previous discussion about the particular unit and previous sales prices.
