excuse my ignorance, but what makes this CLK55 a collector's special? What makes it worth 10x as much as the other CLK55 on ebay?

You guys are missing the description - it's "CLK 55 AMG Desengio in Magma Red". Very rare. The lister said so. Furthermore " It was said that this car was sold for $180,000.00 and in today's value may be $300,000.00."

And it didn't sell. Just because something is rare doesn't make it valuable. In theory, on some cars there are so many colors and options, each car could be unique, but they're not worth any more than book value.
