Good Independent Shop Wanted, Chicago North-West Burbs
I am looking for a good independent shop I can trust to do maintenance and service on my 2007 E350 and 2008 GL320.
I had been told to try Leicht Automotive in Wauconda/Barrington, but when I called the number is out of service, and a quick google came back with the sad news that Tim Leicht passed away in December.

Gus's Imports in the west burbs (Naperville). Probably too far for you depending on how far north you are. Most of my friends use him when their cars go out of warranty, rates are a fraction of stealership rates. He has been around for years, knowledgable, he's an enthusiest and most of all he is honest. He pretty much specializes in German cars but recently got some Ferrari training. A friend had thought he blew his transmission in his BMW a couple years back, had it towed to Gus's expecting the worst. Gus called him back a couple days later once he had a chance to look at the car and it turns out it was a plug to some sensor in the transmission that had worked it's way loose, he plugged it in and gave the car back to my friend free of charge. He could have hammered my buddy on charges if he wanted to but was honest and ethical, hard to find that these days.

Huge cost saver, they are the only guys that touch my CL and now tht I got the S550 as well they will be working on that too. Call Marcin at Speedriven or visit the shop its right off Euclid on 290/53

Probably will be a trans fluid and oil change on each car sometime this year.
Has to be better priced than the dealer.
I am planning (hoping) to do the rest myself.

Anyone use these guys?
There reviews are stellar, but mostly on BMWs.

I bring all three of my Mercedes to Burdi Motorworks. I have a SL, S, ML Class. They have been working on my cars for over 30 years. I wouldn't bring them any where else. Carmine Sr. and Carmine Jr. are Chicago's best Mercedes Repair team. They always give us a ride to the airport when my family goes on vacation out of O'hare airport. Service for Mercedes ML350 Bluetec 2010 far North Chicago suburbs
I am also looking for a good reference for out of warranty Mercedes service in the far north suburbs. Wauconda or Fox Lake area would be great, but I'll venture to Lake Zurich (south) or over to Grayslake (east). I'm also going to need a brake job soon.

Hey ... has anyone on here used Autobahn MotorWorks on 83 in Mundelein? If so, what did you think of their service and their prices? I am trying to wean myself off the dealer since I'm out of the factory warranty and we moved even further away this summer. I want someone that really knows MB diesels.

I just had some routine maintenance done at Werk Shop in Libertyville.
All seemed good, prices seemed fair (not what I would call inexpensive) and they were very nice.
Given it was normal maintenance with no issues, it is hard to tell the actual quality of the work, the Bimmer guys love the place.
I figured I would start there since I had a coupon they mailed out.

A friend of mine that tracks his CLK500 recommended Axel Knauz at Axel's Automotive up in Lake Bluff - http://www.axelsautomotive.com/ . AFAIK, he is related to the Knauz family in that area, and is reliable.
Does anyone have experience with him? I am in Winnetka and he is the closest to take a look at my car and get an oil change.

Had an alternator fail (and stupid me figured it was just a low battery), so I got stuck with needing a repair while at O'Hare airport.
Knowing Burdi Motors was close, I gave them a call from out of town.
I am quite pleased with the service, picking up a dead car at the airport lot.
From the vehicles going in and out and the attitude of the customers waiting, it seems they do good work.
