Extended Warranties

My original warranty is about done but I still love my ML55 and after much shopping around have decided to keep her. As expensive as the maintanence can be, I would like to find a full replacement warranty for a few more years. I only have 30k miles on my 2002. Any recommendations as most or all of our ML55s are running out of warranty.

I was able to get an extended warranty for my ML55 from a company called Exotic Warranty based in Florida. Be ready for some sticker shock for the comprehensive package. The warranty company that I used previously (Ist Source Warranty) for my ML430 cannot write policies in California due to the July 2004 law change. They are a great company and I had my last ML430 repair under warranty at 99,xxx miles! I found that most extended warranty companies will not write for AMG models. Good Luck!

2002 ML55
The Auto Club

After much research, I just purchased a 6 yr/100,000 mile warranty for my 2002 ML55 with 27,500 miles. My manufacturers warranty will expire mid-November and didn't want to be without coverage. Since my vehicle is under 30,000 miles, I got a better deal than if it were over 30K.

I found this platinum (exclusionary) no deductible policy is among the best on the market and look forward to having it. They even offer 0% financing for up to 18 or 24 months ($5 monthly service fee applies). It's underwritten by Mercury insurance which is only second to Nationwide insurance for these types of policies. I would have gotten Nationwide, but they didn't cover AMG models (like most other companies I contacted).

The piece of mind will be well worth the money.

Exotic Warranty - Illegal Operation

Update -

EXOTIC WARRANTY was placed into receivership and liquidation by the State of Florida for not being authorized to issue motor vehicle warranties. They were operating since 2003 and apparently were just caught up to by the judicial powers of Florida. All warranties were cancelled as of April 12, 2006.

To read more about it - http://www.floridainsurancereceiver.org.

According to the website, the dealer that sold this policy is on the hook for the unexpired warranty premium. Good luck with that!

I love the ML55 but this $5K blunder does not make it feel that good right now.

Anyone know of any after market warranty companies for these AMG beasts?

Thumbs up Total Protection Plan - Covers AMG models

There is a $175.00 "surcharge" to the cost, but it's still a $0 deductible, and can be financed for 12 months w. 10% down, no service fee's. While it will be expensive, you could get a short term 24mth / 60k mile contract for $2986.00..... or go to a 60mth / 100k contract or several other options.

You may look to see who sells these contracts locally ( to you )

What the name of the company you used?? One person mentioned "The Auto Club" but their website does not cover the M-Class AMG version (at least now), only the other classes AMG versions.

I have a 2000 ML55 and bought an extended warranty through AAA. They have actually been pretty good so far to deal with. Thankfully so, because the car is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. The platinum coverage was around $3300, and they have already paid out over $12K. You can get the info on AAA's website.

Can you please post the actual website? I think that AAA may offer these in some states and not others because each state's AAA is a separate legal entity. My local AAA office had less than no idea what i was talking about.

i'm thinking about an extended warranty for a W211... what is a good company to go with in CA since many companies don't offer policies in CA.

Any recommendations would be appreciated...

If you have low miles and the years fit you can go to the dealership and buy an extended warranty. Let the dealers know you are shopping around and you'll get a good price.
