2005 E55 Delivered 01/07/05
Big deal the SRT8 has nitrous to do 12:40's. We have a guy in the E55 forum that has run 12:40's with a bone stock car. The only thing he may have changed was the rear tires.
I am willing to bet the bank that SRT8 engine will not last too long with Nitrous.

the xc90 has as high a center of gravity as anything else out there. he ought to be considering a Gelaendewagon instead!

Definitely not. My friend has one, & he couldn't stop talking about how fast his car was & how it would kill my E55. Well we finally did a few 0-60 runs & he never even came close. I would jump 4 car lenghts on him every time.

EDIT: I almost forgot, this was before i had my car modified by RENNtech.

Various
Each magazine has different figures but I believe I have seen the SRT8 in the 4.5 sec range...

I can't imagine the new figures if it gets the alleged 6.4L 500+Hp engine starting in 2009.

Car & Driver:

ML63:
0-60: 4.6
0-100: 11.6
1/4 mile: 13.2 @ 108mph

GC SRT8:
0-60: 4.5
0-100: 12.0
1/4 mile: 13.2 @ 104mph

Road & Track:

ML63:
0-60: 4.5
0-100: 11.2
1/4 mile: 13.0 @ 108.0mph

GC SRT8:
0-60: 4.6
0-100: 11.9 (published time in Road Test Review, not in article)
1/4 mile: 13.2 @ 104.1mph

You are correct, below is quoted from one of my previous posts, it is not directly comparing the SRT8 to the Ml63 but the SRT8's numbers are included. They are the fastest published times for the SRT8.

One word, WOW.

The ML63 completely annihilated the 08 Cayenne Turbo into pieces.

0-60 0-100 0-120 30-70 1/4mile

ML63 4.5 10.9 15.9 4.4 13.1@109

Cayenne Turbo 5.1 12.8 18.6 4.9 13.6@106

Jeep SRT8 4.4 11.4 17.7 5.1 13.2@105

How badly can one be defeated? Seriously, if the difference were 0.1 second I could chalk it up to reaction time and timing error etc. But it was quit a shock to see so much gap between these 2 trucks.

Unless someone is really keen on seeing a Porsche in the driveway, there is really no reason to buy the Cayenne Turbo, the performance is just embarrassing for what the car was billed for, heck a even a Jeep costing half as much can dance all around it. This coming from a Porsche owner no less.

From the 4 ML63s that I have personally seen, the build quality and fit and finish is on par with Porsche, imo I think it's actually BETTER than Porsche, the few Cayennes that I have driven all have little defects that I can spot.

One last Ace up the ML63's sleeve, if I see a VW Toureg next to me I wouldn't feel like I have been stripped, robbed and raped by Porsche knowing the Cayenne IS a lowly VW Toureg with nicer trims and stronger engines.

Granted the Porsche won the braking test from 70-0 by 4 feet, but the ML63 really got a knock out win.

For comparison sake the ML63 and the Porsche are in the same cross-shopped category and the Jeep is in a totally different price bracket. As I have opinionated I consider difference of 0.1 seconds to be within margin of error so I would consider the Jeep and ML63 to have the tied the 0-60 time.

For a truck that cost half as much the performance from SRT8 is quite commendable, but at the end of the day it's not really a truck in the same cross-shop category.

This article basically validated my decision to go for the ML63 instead of a Cayenne Turbo, it was one of the smartest decision I have made. ML63 IS the new benchmark for all sports truck to be measured.

Ml63 build quality

Further to Whoopsy's comments re ML63 build quality:
I had to have my drivers side rear door repainted due to some serious vandalism
I took it to a good shop who stripped it right down and repaired it properly. Their comment to me was that the build quality of the door was as good or better than anything else out there (examples given-domestics, toyota, nissan etc). The components have been designed to be taken apart and put back together again. This is nothing you can see from the outside but only when you get inside. They were very suprised how much effort had been put into the fabrication process that no-one usually sees!

I wouldn't call the SRT8 faster unless you are only talking about 0-60.

To summarize, the SRT8 is 0.1sec faster to 60, 0.5sec SLOWER to 100, 1.8sec SLOWER to 120. It's also 0.7sec SLOWER for 30-70, and 0.1 sec and 4mph SLOWER for 1/4 mile.

BUT, that 0.1 sec difference in 0-60 or 1/4 mile time can easily be negated by driver reaction times so the SRT8 in effect did not win any categories, but at least it tied 2 of them.

When i said faster i meant 0-60 and or 0 to 80 mile only and then ML will bas very easy.

Huh i laugh when they compare the box (G55) acceleration with the SRT8, i'm sure they don't ride them.

By the way guys with 125shot of Nos i smoked a F430 from stop light to stop light.
