My ML63 w/o running boards and......more
Here's an update on my ML63 which is about 3 weeks old now:
Total Miles: 3,140
Oil consumption: 1/2 quart just added today.
Had the ML63, AMG badges and the running boards removed as evidenced by these photos:
That's Rider, my 12 year old chocolate lab in the photos. My best bud, EVER!
The last photo (the one with the odometer) shows the transmission set to Comfort and limited to 5th gear maximum upshift.
Enjoy,
Dave

I guess it all comes down to personal opinion. I like the running boards. But if you don't like the running boards then you made the right choice. Either way the truck kicks ***. Nice job!

I think it can go either way. It looks "heavier" with the running boards, but I like the clean look of it without them. Pray for the guy who challenges this this ML thinking it is a ML350 with the AMG kit and AMG wheels. A sleeper has been born.

Good job! Nice picts. Looks very clean... if anyone mistakes that rig for an ML350, even without the badges, he's a moron! Me personally...I like to burn the ricers... they just don't know what's under the hood.
Does Rider call, 'SHOTGUN!" when Dad heads for the car?

Rider has the whole back seat all to himself, he told me he doesn't want just "half a seat" up front. Plus he's a very good back seat " Rider "

I think it looks much better with the running boards removed. Had I bought a ML63 that is one of the first things I would have done.
My wife recently rode in a friend's SUV that had running boards. According to her, while it was easy to use them while getting in the vehicle (if necessary) she said they were difficult to use while getting out and all that happened is that she got her pants dirty rubbing against them.
Running boards are something I would expect to see on a "soccer mom's" vehicle to help kids and old folks. It is not something that I would expect on a AMG performance vehicle.
Just my opinion...............

Price installed (takes about 3 hours ) would be around $850, depending upon labor rate, parts markup and sales tax for where u live.

Some people consider this car an SUV that handles and drives like sports car,
others consider it a sports car that does things that an SUV might.
The ones that dont like the running boards are of the latter statement

I have the Renntech lowering module on order, I will have the running boards removed at the same time it is installed, supposedly you can drop the body 2 " all around.....Should look much sportier!

Reviving his thread because I want to see what it would look like with out the running boards. I'm tall enough that they are a pain more than a convenience.
