Anyhow I'm over it......Back on topic 1 thing I forgot about your Ml's as well as G55's & SRT's if when dynoing and using 4 wheel drive to capture these numbers, Your tranny losses will be far greater than 18-22%....

If I remember correctly Ted Baldwin, w/highly modded G55 was estimating around 26-28% loss or more, for an all wheel drive Dyno loss precentage...

So your vehicles though heavy do perform very well in the car world, and are probably packin' much more crank HP than factory claims...

Maybe do a search on Ted's G55 to find his results as I said earlier my memory on this isn't 100%

...........My G55 makes 491 AWHP and 527 ALL WHEEL TORQUE. Here is the link to the dyno.
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ted+final+dyno

...........I don't know what the correct drive train loss figure is. I used 25% because that is what the Subaru STI guys use. However, this means that my G55 makes an astonishing 654 crank HP and 702LBFT of torque at the crank. So as much as like my G55, I'm not so sure of the 25% figure for drive train loss.

Its snowing here so the videos will have to wait til it stops.

The jeep gets about 12.5 mpg right now. Ive heard it supposed to get better once it breaks in but i could care less, i didnt buy it for good gas milage. tires are good. It came with all season run flats which do have a more harsh ride but oh well, it grip very well and has done good all today in the snow. We have had at least 6 inches here and i havent had a time where it felt like its lost contol at all. The brakes are very good. Large Brembo brakes. some reported squeeking in the '06's and mine squeeked for a day under light braking at around 30 mph but other than that they are great.
Overall i love the car and my dad loves it to. He tries to steal it and drive it all the time when he can and his regular car is a 2001 BMW 540i so that says something about it.

U guys know that they make a twin-turbo 600HP pkg. for the Jeep SRT8 the Jeep SRT8 is the only non-euro SUV that I would even think of driving ( and the Hummer Alpha H1 )

A G55K with a K4 pkg. does not even hit 500 whp ?
I wonder wha the new 07/08 G55K will make with the same mods? since they come with 500 crank HP from the factory..

Ted's car power as quoted was measured at the wheels,so with the 25-30% loss for 4wd it's well over 600hp at the crank.

a) posts 89 and 90, please note the car referred to in the article is the Cayenne Turbo, not the Turbo S

b) At the 11 second mark in the original video, you can see the illuminated yellow triangle, which I believe indicates traction control activating; it might have been happening in the Jeep too, but this affects the "hard launch."

It's a single Turbo-kit, not a Twin.....Perf is listed twice on same page, 1st 12.20 1/4 @ 115 0-60 in 3.7 then lower on same page same mods, they list 11.90 1/4 @ 116 0-60 in 3.5

That 11.90 would be a GIANT killa' on the streets I'd be pissin' down one leg if a guy had that combo & stomped me in city streets, w/other light traffic just laughing there arsess off

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...topanel..1.*#3

"Eats Porsches for lunch
We knew the ML63 was going to do well in our testing, but the numbers it posted had us thinking there might have been a hiccup in the test gear's software. Nope; everything checked out: This puppy is quick. We were especially eager to see how it fared against the 520-hp $132,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Bottom line, it smoked the last Turbo S we tested by a half-second from zero to 60 and by almost 2 mph in the quarter-mile. The big Merc also bested the times we achieved with the 420-hp Jeep SRT8, arguably the only other sport-ute able to keep up with the powerful pair of Germans"

That's because those testers dont know what they are doing with the Turbo S. I have both vehicles and I have done some performance tests on both.

From 60-110 the 2 cars are virtually even with neither car pulling the other. I haven't tested the ML63 0-60 yet, but I did get 0-60 in 4.6 seconds with my Driftbox (made by same company that makes VBOX and is exactly as accurate as a VBOX all the car mags use).

The ML63 is about a 1000 times easier to launch from a stop, you dont have to do anything fancy other than mash the pedal. The Turbo S is a lot trickier to get a great launch. Power brake start (to load the turbos) is the only way to get it to fly off the line. You also have to turn PSM off to get maximum performance.

The ML63 is a better all around car for the Money, but it's no Cayenne Turbo S. They both have their advantages and disadvantages when being compared to each other, and the Turbo S is definately not worth ALL the extra cost in the price. But at the end of the day the Turbo S is still better than the ML63. The biggest difference is in the interior quality.

I hope to get more real world performance info on the ML63 soon, and hopefully will find the time to write up a proper comparison between these 2 awesome suvs.

.
I kinda agree but i would not say that turbo S has MUCH MUCH better interrior than ML, i agree I'd want to have doors and all the "plastic" parts to be covered with leather, and alcantra healiner, but other than that i wouldnt say Cayenne has much better interrior.

Here's one....sell it and buy an SL65
This weeks Autocar has the ML63 at 4.6secs 0-60

..........care needs to be taken in interpreting dyno HP figures. As has been said before, its use is many to check for delta after modifications are done. The ultimate test is at the drags strip. My G55 had a baselind dyno of 392AWHP. After the K4, it dynoed at 491AWHP on the same dyno by the same tech. This rep;resents a pretty impressive gain of 100AWHP which was eventually proven at the track with a 12.7 sec run at the 1/4 mile.

........The drive drain loss in a rear wheel drive automatic such as a W211 E55 is about 18%. That of a 4wheel drive SUV is not know but probably upwards of 25%. Therefore, the WHP dyno figures for a W211 E55 and that of a G55K with the same mods will be expected to be different. Having said that 491WHP is in the upper part of normal for K4 mods even with a W211 E55. There are some but not many AMGV8K's with 500WHP, and those will not be expected to be SUV's with higher drive train losses. There is alsoi not much difference in power between a K2 annd a K4. The power is made at K2. K3 and K4 don't really add any more measurable Hp but modulate how your car uses the HP.

..........As for the new G55K. The engine is the same as the 05. The additional 18WHP or 24 crank HP was derived from ECU modification by Mercedes. So it is probably nothing different from buying an 05 G55K and get an aftermarket ECU only. And if you get a K4, that ECU mod comes with the package.

.........Back to topic. The twin turbo version of the SRT8 is absolutely amazing. One such car by Hennessey Performance Engineering ran a 12.2 in the 1/4 mile.

.........If you like to mod your car, the ML63 is at a disadvantage. At least for now, there are no easy mods. This might change soon.

Ted

Here's a few vids of the Henessey GC SRT8 600. Henessey states that the package costs $10K:

And I just want to add (I know, redundent, but I have to say this) the Porsche Cayenne Turbo (S or not) is just insanely expensive.

It's a kind of car that requires something out of the ordinary to get.

This link is NOT unbiased, but I've heard identical things directly from a friend with a modified Viper. I hope JH has mended his ways...
