Happy with my choice of ML63 over X5 4.8i
I had my first chance to see the BMW X5 4.8i at the Detroit Auto show. After a through examination I'm very happy with the Benz... I know I'm not comparing apples to apples, but I'm just not happy with BMW's design directions. Damn you Chris Bangle! The two rear seats in the BMW are a total joke! Even for pre-teens! Plus, the running boards look hauntingly familiar...
The AMG pavillion was very popular, but all the car doors were locked. The CL 63 was smoking hot!
I really liked the blue on this ML63.

ML63!!!!Although i didnt drive 4.8 yet I kind of like the exterior i mean its not THAT ugly its alrite, the interior tho is somewhat I didnt like much! Plus no buttons to change gears on the steering wheel? and it is suppose to be an ultimate driving machine? Come on! Even my ML350 has it and I use it a lot!
I wanna see what they will come up with to compete with ml63! I heard 5.0 twin turbo engine!
Oh and it has so much electronics its just gonna be a nightmare at least for a couple of years, once I had a big mistake of purchasing one of the first 745i
and let me tell you it was BAAAD!

I cannot agree more with you. The look of some of the new BMW's make me want to vomit. I owned 5 BMW's in the past(80's and 90's). I would take any new Benz over the new BMW's in regards to looks anyday.

I like the styling of the new E70 X5 as well. It's even better looking than my former E53 X5 4.8is. All of the non-AMG W164 ML's without the "AMG" sports package look bland to me... they all look like a soccer-mom-mobiles (no offense to soccer moms out there). At least the AMG bodywork-clad ML's look somewhat aggressive and make the W164 body look less like a minivan. The ML63 is another story however. It looks great (though still a bit bland in comparison to the new X5 in terms of exterior styling). The 20" AMG wheels and the whole package is just enough to make me want to actually buy a W164 M Class... and I most likely will. Ideally, I'd wait for the E70 X5 iS version or "M" version with the rumored biturbo V8 and expected even more aggressive styling. However, I need to replace my M5 now and the ML63 seems like the best suv type that will be available to me this year.

the seats in the x5 are a joke. the rear ones i mean. i couldnt fit my little cousin in there and hes 8.
and what else sucks is that they market it as the 4.8 like it is the top of the line. I dont know if you guys understand what i mean. but im saying its like the 4.8 replaces the 4.4 but people think its still the 4.8 as in the top of the line engine.
anyone know what i mean?

Maybe that's because the 4.8i currently is the top-of-the-line.

I saw the X5 at a dealer the other day and from some angles I really like it, and from some others I really don't.
Like all new BMWs I think its going to take me 6 months of staring at it until one day the koolaid really kicks in and I'll say, wow I guess I do like it.
ML63 looks better... but X5 looks better than normal ML.
